Hey you guys, about once or twice a month for the past I'd say year, when Ive been sitting down for a long time, and I stand up, I get extremely dizzy, get tunnel vision, and nearly feinted (ironically, almost crushing the laptop Im writing this message from).

I have already looked it up, and apparently it tends to be an age thing some of my friends have the same thing, Im guessing that it has to do with the fact that after sitting a while and than standing, the blood suddenly drops from your brain, and I know the brain has an emergancy reflex which is to make you feint so you fall down and by laying down blood gets back to your brain.

But, the last one I had last night, (was taking a pill for concentration in school, for the first two nights I am basically unable to sleep, but perfectly awake) so Im watching a video on my Ipod touch, I stand up to go to the bathroom, basically 1:30 am, I get dizzy and have tunnel vision, but for about 15 seconds I totally forgot, well everything that I was doing, all I knew was I had my Ipod in my hand and I was leaning on something (the side of my bed) I had no idea what I was watching, what time it was, I almost freaked out because I thought maybe my parents had found out I was still awake.

I know there is a certain type of affliction to fighter pilots like a black out, you know they pull high G's and the blood drains out of the brain like water down a toilet, but theres also I believe a white out or something like that where the pilot similarly forgets everything that he had been doing, where he was, what was going on, etc...

Could it have something to do wit the fact that Id been laying down for like 3-4 hours rather than 30 minutes to an hour?

    Thanks you guys.

Have your blood pressure checked....it might be too low.

It's called orthostatic hypotension. Your reflex where more blood gets pumped to the brain when you stand up, is acting too slow.

Unless you feel generally unhealthy, or you have other health problems, you can probably forget about it. It's common in teenagers because you're still growing.

Try eating more salt. I have it too and I have less of those after eating lots of salt. Licorice is good too, it raises blood pressure.

You're having a vasovagal episode (vasovagal syncope if you faint)

You probably have low blood pressure and just need to drink more water. Drink 1.5-2L of water everyday. Eating salting foods would increase your BP but your kidney's will (probably) start to remove all that added salt within 12 weeks.

Get a check up if you're worried.

That sounds like a pretty severe case to be considered "normal". It can be a side effect of many medications. Do you use any? I'd see my doctor about it.
