I just got a digital camera and when i attach it to the USB port it fails to show up as a removeable drive. The User manual said the XP didn't even need to have the driver installed from the CD-ROM included in the package but alas XP failed to even read the camera. I then tried to install the driver from the CD and it went fine but even after that the camera fails to recognize the camera. In device manager the USB port that the camera is attached to shows up as unkown device. It says the driver is not installed even after i have installed the driver.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The cable might be damaged. Test the cable.
