Hi and thanks for your help in advance

I have trouble every time i try to connect to the internet, something keeps changing my password and only my password the dial up number is correct and so is the username.

The only way to stop it atm is not to check the save password box, i've downloaded the latest updates for my AV software with no luck and have tried an online spyware scanner that found nothing.

Im using IE 6 on Win XP conecting to the net via BTOW, no matter how many times i change it back to the correct password on Internet Options>Connections>BTOW>Settings when i close and reopen the window its back to the incorrect one

I know its only a bit of a problem but its been bugging the hell out of me for a fortnight now

I would ask if your using the actual BTOW software to do the Dialup, or have you configured your own dialer with the BTOW details?

I personally hated the BTOW softare that rigged a dialer for you, because it did loads of sneaky checks and forced you to see the homepage they wanted you to see, So I tended to fill in my own Dialer details to get around that.

Other than that, it's pretty difficult to get an idea of the problem. You could try e-mailing their support address, but over the two weeks you wait for a reply, you'll probably solve it.

[The following I doubt is the reason but I mention it anyway]
Lastly one potential reason might be Windows Recovery. M$ thought they would be clever and introduce a method of making sure that alterations to drivers and even some settings had a backup, to stop those computer illiterate people from accidentally killing their systems.

However in doing so this caused multiple problems, on the one hand you might have a problem where you try to change some data and the system wont let you, and on the other hand you might have a virus you want to get rid of which the system backs up and wont let you delete it.

I personally turn off the Recovery Feature (it's simpler to reinstall) and it doesn't hassle you then if you try to remove a virus, or alter data.

Yeah i configured the dial up myself, the BT dialer program was a bit shabby imho, i'll send BT an email explaining the problem, then when they dont know what it is i'll format my HD and do a fresh install of windows

TY for the advice anyway ^^
