NEW YORK (Reuters) - A top U.S. Democratic senator said in a newspaper interview published Wednesday that he would consider supporting opening up new areas for offshore oil and gas drilling.

"I'm open to drilling and responsible production," Senate Majority Whip Richard Durbin told The Wall Street Journal, adding that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid could also support the move.
Democrats know they can't win if they keep hydrocarbon drilling illegal on over 10,000 miles of US coastline. It's time to get with the times and stop exporting oil jobs overseas.

What ever happened to state's rights? Hypocrite.

Good news. Trouble is it won't make a bit of difference to gas prices or the nation's dependence on oil. Or it won't for a number of years. The nation needs a comprehensive energy plan. Unfortunately our politicians seem incapable of delivering one.
