Currently in the list of threads for "World Events" group of threads there are two "today" threads listed first, then three older ones, then several more "today" threads - why are they not listed with all the more recent ones first?

I often try to edit a post a few minutes after making it, but my services provider tells me "looking up Sciforums.com" and after a minute of so says "done" with failure to edit the post. - I repeat the request to edit a few times and then discover that instead of edit, a new post appears. Embarased I try to delete the first version I was editing and find I can not delete. What is going on? Am I doing something wrong?
