Are there programs that not only defragment files but also organise their locations such that files in the same logical folder are also sequentially located on the disk?

some of the apps I use loads lots of small files. Even if they are all in one piece, if they're not located near each other on the HDD then the drive head will be trashing about and the drive won't be achieving optimal throughput.

Does anyone have any knowledge on this matter?

the only solution i can think of is to put all of the files in one folder, transfer that folder to another partition, then defrag the drive. after defragging the drive transfer the folder back.
the problem with this solution is that if you add to the files they will start to fragment again.
also when defragging make sure you disable system restore. when done defragging re enable it. defrag will not defrag system restore files if it is active

Note to darksidZz. I tried it - its major drawback is that it is less user friendly on setting up. No Icons are created - you have to do it yourself. Also it gives you a zip file, which you have to unzip. Once it is setup, it seems to work as well as the one I recommended.

I don't use system restore, as it happens.

All I care about is that files are located close to one another so that sequential loading times are optimal.

I'm using Diskeeper Enterprise, but I don't see any references to my query in the help file.
