Heard a similar story about Georgia recently. I'm sure it's common throughout.

I'd do the work if I were unemployed. I've actually done similar work, picking grapes 14 hours a day for a week, for FREE (well, for lunch/dinner and grog).

The Georgia story I read was that even the criminals who had been supplied by the state to make up for lack of migrant workers had walked off their jobs:

Food is going to be very expensive next year

I don't agree with free borders until the problems of worker exploitation are resolved.
    Economic migrants exacerbate the problem.
People are not only competing with people from their own country to work for the lowest price, the competition becomes world wide.

Maybe the problem with traditional Marxism was that they were opposing a system which was actually benefiting people in many cases.
    Those capable of rising, anyway.
Capitalism was tinged with Christianity, and many people rose from nothing to a standard of living only previously achieved by Kings.

Think Margaret Thatcher and the Council Houses.
If you rise a smidge above the people below you, you will love the system that enables it.

In the West, the workers are a bit richer than, Oh, African workers for example.
That's because, Oooh, we are better than them.

Those differentials seem to be evaporating.
Carry on the way you are going Capitalists, and you may make Marxism possible.

The thing that burns me is it is possible to make up to $170 per day if you're a top picker and yes all these f*cking fat ass Americans on welfare. I know so many Americans on "disability" it makes the mind boggle. Not to mention all the Americans I know who do lawn work in the summer, like installing sprinklers and then get unemployment in the winter. Which why they take those sorts of jobs in the first place.

It really just pisses me right off! WTF happened to hard working Americans? Pathetic.

are we talking about college educated pickers picking so they can pay off there 40,000 dollar student loans too?

What we gonna do when robots take the jobs cause a human picker just can't keep up ?

What about all the middle management cushy jobs already lost to the computer age . They would make pickers too.

Historians think they make good pickers ? How about x government workers when government is inevitable shrank . I would love to see a few central planners out picking cotton to tell you the truth . Those top ten highest earners Forbes Magazine printed for the world to see . Yeah the ones that took bail outs and then got a 26% increase in bonuses after . 43 million ? Was that in one year ? I would love to see them picking for about 10 years or so . We could call it service to there community or something .

There are butt loads of bogus industries from religion to modern medicine . Insurance is one hell of a gimmick . If we simplify taxes we could do away with accountants . All could be pickers . University Professors they could be pickers too . I mean really, You can't eat books .

We could save a ton of money , kick out the immigrants and all be pickers. Pay down the national debt with all that money we all make as pickers and then save the enviroment in our spare time . Right after we finish our 10 hr. day picking as much as we can

Pick Pick Pick . Oh joy lets all be pickers

You been listening to the Pat Buchanan plan to get America back to work ?
