hi everyone,
okay right off i'll admit my knowledge of geology is about equivalent to a fly's knowledge of the universe. i'm wondering a few things for a story a buddy of mine was thinking of writing.. he was thinking about a story where evidence of pre-pangeac metallic structures were found buried a certain depth in the earth, as in buildings of a civilisation long before dinosaurs, etc.. whether the timeline is feasible or not doesn't really matter, what i'm wondering is if it might actually be possible that something could remain in tact roughly (at least definitive evidence of it), how deep in the rock it might be if we're talking say roughly a billion years in the past, and at that depth just what the earth actually is made of.
i'll let a geology nut take over now :)
