Hey, my High School just got a new thing called Surf Control and unfortunatally Sciforums didnt make the cut as a school worthy. My question is does anyone know how to bypass it or hack it to let me acess sciforums? I dont know if this is free thoughts worthy so sorry to anyone. Thanks.

result of typing www.sciforums.com ? You could try sciforums.com
only, for example. Also, try writing it in its numerical form...

Go to an internet translation page, like Bablefish on Altavista... tell it to tranlate Chinese to English for sciforums.

I did that for a while until they caught onto my sneaky actions.

Somewhere online there is a program inwhich you run a server on your computer. You go to the web page on your computer and tell it what page you want... your computer will download that page and display it to you. All "they" know is that you are visiting a web page they have not yet evaluated... hence not blocked.

Well, unless they know the address structure for requesting pages on this type of server... that happened to me so I could never do that...

yes my HS does that to. I have some thing called D.E.A.R, and i usually go on the internet and damn computer won't let me get on to sciforums. CURSES!!!!

It is really a bad thing to block scifourms. for that alone you should be given a suggestion. use a serach engine to find free proxy server like www.proxyweb.net . type sciforums url in the address bar displayed therein. that might work. Porfiry might have objections to this for sake of security. consult him first. then you are at your own risk as for your own & other's security.!.

last year we didn't have any air conditioning in the whole entire school...except for the main offices, all those damn secretaries, administrators, principles and counselors had ac.

since we are not supposed to go on forums at school, I set the screen resolution to 1024x768 because the lidrarian is blind. No one really cares that much though. The fact that it is called SCIforums means that it is a "scientific"place, so it is "research". One of my friends uses a Putty program and be patches the internet in the library to his Linux box at home and you can go to any sites you want. The internet at my school (where I am now) is ghood because it does not blck based on key words. Th eonly thing that sucks is that ratemyteacher.com is blocked off.. check it out and have some fun.

The teachers are afraid of reading bad things about themselves, so they feel they can prevent some of the critisism by blocking that site. The teachers want to believe they are doing a good job, when infact they suck at teaching and need to burn their college degree and do something else.

However, there are good teachers. I had 3 good teachers all throughout high school.. out of 24.

the reason that the school computer are blocking this site something about chat. But it is no problem for kids to go on the AIM site. DICKS

It's a shame that your school does that. My high school is fairly lenient with the internet, but they have a program that searches everyone's stored histories and catches keywords and they catch you that way if you're doing anything naughty. The administrators have been known to shut off students accounts, or a whole room's internet access if one kid does something bad. Almost no pages are blocked when you try to access them, cept for the porno and such.

My teachers let me use SciForums as a source for papers too.

An example would be I did a paper dealing with viewpoints of music filesharers where I used this site.

And a lot of people that post in the science subforums are career scientists and have credibility. Or they just know their stuff extremely well. But I don't really use sciforums for scientific papers. I might get ideas or links for presentations and such things.

Also for current events you'll get fresh viewpoints that won't be found in the regular media. The opinions people post on this site are great. I won't hestitate to use some in a paper, but for facts and statistics I turn to more credible sources.

Does anybody go to Queens High School of Liberal Arts and Teaching.
