Over the past couple of days I've noticed a few people here and there complain about not being able to access websites and even potentially not even be able to connect to the internet properly.

Most of the problems all seem to coincide at one point the DNS Servers.

For those of you that don't know what a DNS Server is or does, quite simply It's almost like a Direct Enquiries for Names that point to specific IP Address (Numbers). Every time you type in a URL (Uniform Resource Locator), at some point a packet is sent Querying what IP the domain is attached to.

It's not just fully qualified domains however that have "canonical" names (The terming used for a name as apposed to a reference number/ IP) even your ISP can give the IP that you are assigned or use a "name".

Now the reason I mention all this is because I've realised it's not a new Virus on the internet thats causing the DNS servers to overload, or new forms of Attack to bring the internet to a standstill. The likelihood is that one of the internets own successes is it's failure....

Share-Networking.

Original Share networks would run one system as a pseudo-DNS server, this kept the load from the DNS servers as packet after packet of "Which system is this going to" and "This is where I'm from" messages fly back and forth.

Also the increase in Share-networks that atttempt to remove corrupt packets means more intense checks that you are who you say you are as the packets negociate proxies and the like.

Currently it suggests that Share networking needs to either redevelop, or find itself eventually under litigation from the powers that be, not for illegally housing copyrighted material but perhaps from something has harsh as Cyberterrorism.

So if you are the creator of a share network, you might want to look at redeveloping how systems are identified on the internet to remove the burden from DNS servers, otherwise your future might well be at stake.
