Can someone please explain to me the appeal of this show and it's 300 other spinoffs?

It's the same episode over and over again with same show mechanics week in week out yet people watch it like it's visual crack.

I've never understood that either.
And all the law and order spinoffs. Too bad they don't make a thousand of something which is actually good.
I loved on late night with conan o'brien when they had the "law and ordies", an award show just for all the law and order spinoffs.

Can someone please explain to me the appeal of this show and it's 300 other spinoffs?
