Ok, I came up with a crack-pot theory at work the other day. I don't believe it to be true as I'm sure people with better understanding of physics than me (next to no understanding) have probed the idea. But what the hell.

Our universe is expanding and will never stop, correct? Well the crack-pot explanation I thought of has to do with black holes (of course, lol). The core of a black hole is the size of an atom, it swallows everything and compresses it to the size of that atom, increasing it's density, correct? My "theory" is that our universe is another black hole's core, in an exterier universe... As the black hole swallows more and more of that universe, our universe gets bigger and bigger. But it doesn't actually get bigger, it just gets denser. But to us, from an inside perspective, it seems to be getting bigger.

I'm not behind this theory at all, I know next to nothing about these things so I'm probably wrong for a thousand different reasons, just wondering if you could point out those reasons for me. Thank you!

If we were inside a black hole being drawn to the singularity (which actually has 0 radius), then everything coming in would appear to be Doppler shifted towards the blue end of the spectrum. We do not see such a blue shift, so it seems unlikely that your hypothesis is correct.
