The metaphor in my title is a subtle reference to one of the first instances of biological warfare. The attackers' catapults flung corpses infected with bubonic plague over a city wall, back to the besieged, who were desperately trying to escape and desperately trying to avoid the disease. Their own family members were being returned to them, just like the statements in a recent white house summary of 2003.
On Dec. 13, the White House issued a document entitled "2003: A Year of Accomplishment for the American People." The document made various inaccurate and deceptive claims about the administration's record over the last year. This report by the Center for American Progress seeks to correct those distortions, matching the White House's rhetoric with facts.

I've never heard of this organization. As such, I prefer the facts that they present from outside sources, as opposed to nearly-anonymous "fellows" of their society. Still, the article goes through the lies point-by-point, reducing what the White House constructed to a pile of rubble.
