Well, for a video card, get an ATI Radeon. One of the newer models. Your processor should not be slower than 2.4 GHz (if you want it to last a few years,) and if you can afford it, try to get about 512 MB of DDR ram. 256 would do. But I would personally take as much ram as they would give.

And one last thing, do not be conned by the size of a disk drive. What you want is a quality with with high RPM.

Wait...a size of a hard drive no longer matters? How fast do they come as now? 5400, 7200 ...they actually go higher speeds for retail drives now? I would suggest 120 gig 7200 RPM is decent for starters. You can always add on more later. For a brand I would suggest maxtor. I have never had any problems with their drives.

Best Audio = SB Audigy 2 Platinum Ex (but this has so many addons that people don't actually use it would be almost ridiculous to get unless your an audiophile)

Best Video (arguably) = ATI Radeon AIW 9800 Pro (One kick ass card) - Maybe ask Jerrek about it, he bought the AIW 9000.

DVD-writer = HP dvd300i is a decent choice. It's pretty inexpensive and HP is a respectable company when it comes to CD/DVD drives
