View Full Version : Comet 2007 W1 (Boattini)

A magnitude 17.4, comet was discovered by A. Boattini (Mt. Lemmon Survey) on November 20th, 2007.
The preliminary orbital elements of the comet indicate a perihelion passage on June 14th, 2008 at a distance of 0.7 AU from the Sun.
The comet could reach magnitude 5.5 at perihelion.

“Comet C/2007 W1 (Boattini) continues to brighten faster than predicted, and has now reached about 6th magnitude. That's bright enough that you can see it without optical aid under excellent conditions, and it should be a relatively easy target through binoculars.”
