Having watched several comedies i've noticed that all comedy movies have a form or formal structure to them

there is the beginning in whichthe characters and story are established and alot of funny stuff happens.

Then after a good 2/3 of the movie is gone the decline happens in which the main characters life falls to pieces.

Then in the last 20 minutes or so, the character gets himself out of the mess and everything is alright

Do all comedies follow this form, most that i have watched have like tommy boy, black sheep, waynes world and shrek

Does this sort of form define a whats a comedy and whats like a romantic comedy or something

    Watch Black Adder
For instance, at the end of the first season the first incarnation of him gets cut, mutilated, tortured, then poisoned to death along with all his family and relatives.

I always like European comedies more.
I don't see being braindammaged as funny (as the American movies tend to do).

The comedies with Louis de Funès are all great.

Ever see "Duck Soup" with the Marx brothers? Another one called "A Shot In The Dark" with Peter Sellers was also very funny. Neither of these movies has that plot you explained in them. Many comedies don't have that plot lline at all. It sems you should rent allot more comedies to really see the divercity in them.
