Does anyone have their college regalia? or what have you done with it?, and how does academic regalia differ from each country?, I would be interested to hear from people all over the world.

Stuff(usually clothing or personal good related) from your college with the school emblem or anything that represents the school. Examples: Team Pennant, Letterman's Sweater (cool, but really old), sweatshirts, plagues, mugs. Heck I don't know, there's a lot of other stuff.

I have lots of tshirts that say "University of Waterloo," and "Waterloo Cheerleading," and "Waterloo Warriors" if that counts.

    regalia

There is a long history about college regalia. Check out "American Universities and Colleges" by Stephen Lunce, 1971. American colleges take their traditions from the European regalia customs.
For example. The traditional robe and mortar board are used by almost all high schools in the US. Colors vary but usually correspond to school colors.
Almost all US colleges use black robes with mortar boards. There are special distictions in colleges, for example medals worn around the necks by Valedictorians and honor cords. If you graduate with honors (Suma, Magna or cum laude in the US) there is usually some sort of special recognition.
When I graduated from college I had two tassels on my cap, one for each degree and the color of the tassel corresponds to the subject/discipline. I also had three honor cords, one for suma cum laude honors, one for french honors, and one for biology honors, I could have had two more but I thought three was already excessive.
Graduate Degree regalia is more showy. Masters, PhD and Professional degrees go through a ceremony in which they are hooded by their advisor/professors. For these types of degrees the color of the robe, and the color of the stripes on the robe are distinct for the degree. For example, DVMs have black robes with grey velvet stripes on the arms and down the front. In contrast, PhD students have black robes with black velvet. The hood you recieve with your degree corresponds with a set color for your degree on the outside (grey for Vets, blue for PhDs) and the inside silk lining usually corresponds to your schools colors. The tassel color is also specific for the degree type (Vets get grey, PhDs get gold). As for this regalia, each school can design its own, but they usually correspond to this criteria, with some embelishments.
So should I ever complete my PhD, I will wear a black robe with black velvet stripes and have a dark blue hood, with a gold and black lining. I will wear a tradiational mortar board with a gold tassel. My friend who just completed her DVM wore a black robe with grey velvet trip, a grey hood with black and gold silk lining, and a grey tassel.
