Why do we collect things? I'm not talking about pack rats, I'm talking about people who collect thimbles, salt and pepper shakers, etc. Everybody in my house collects something. Is it an emotional thing?

It's probably more to do with your values. Coins and weapons, sure, money and security. But dolls are probably sentimental.

because i dont want south park collectables, im interested in different currency and i store all the coins in my treasure box like a pirate.

and i collect weapons because i use them for martial arts training, and i love swords,spears,axes,staffs,flails,maces,crossbows,b ows,guns,shuriken etc etc etc. they look good on my walls and they come in handy when you have to whoop some ass.

i also hunt, and use my hunting weapons for killing things that i eat.

i collect things that i like. and i love weapons.

yeah different people collect different things, some collect video games, some collect DVDs, some collect books, some collect stamps. some collect bullets (i have a variety), some collect china plates.


it alld epends on your personal taste and preference. some people are just plain horders (hoarders?), and collect anything and everything. i admit im obessed with weapons though, i make weapons for the hell of it sometimes out of stuff lying around the house.

all different reasons, i appreciate hand forged swords for thier beauty and finess. i appreciate ancient old weapons for the history and roots. i appreciate some things just because i can train witht hem and learn a new fighting style.

but they all have 1 thing in common, i can kill, defend and fight with them.

I once set out to collect knives, like daggers and stuff. But i only have a few to date. Why ? They just look cool :p

I collect anondized aluminum and spongebob stuff

daughter collects wade whimsies
husband collects really expensive tools and gadgets that he HAS to have that he will only use once and then forget about. He has a whole garage and computer desk full.

i have 30 occ model bikes!! i love them!!!

why do i do it?? because i like the workmanship that goes into building somthng like that, i wish i could do it!!

I collect photographs. Mine. Other people's. Doesn't matter. I love pictures (good ones)... 'specially the old ones.

I also collect "modern" US Postal Service "keepsake" stamps. They'll never be worth anythng (in my lifetime), but it's still fun.

Then there's my collection of National Geographic maps. I love these things. I especially love my old ones of Pre WWI Europe. Turn of the century India, Africa and Asia. I love old maps.

Books. I have lots... and LOTS of books.
