This whole international situation right now is pretty scary; there are HUGE tensions on the world stage right now, and people seem to be sensing that "something is coming". To make matters worse, Bush has announced a revisal of the United States nuclear agenda, which basically translates into the conception of another Arms Race. Does he not realized what fueled the Cold War? People keep saying this is going to start World War III, but I don't see that happening, not enough countries are mobilized enough nor have the resources to fight full-out war with anyone, especially against the US. But doesn't a Cold War seem like the inevitable outcome of current international circumstances? What are your guy's thoughts on this?

    Worrying.
Especially as the UK has been named as the US's 'truest friend'.

    My prediction:

As long as Terrorism is in the front burner, there will be no cold war for quite some times. Otherwise it would have been between China and US. Even though the generals would love a good predictable enemy, it wont happen.

Severe tormoil in middle-east and balkan states for the next 12 years.

It depends what you mean by a cold war

if you mean CIA, MI5 (think the real ones 5 but i can never rember if its 5 or 6), ASIO (although we are very little) sneaking around asainating people while the terriousts do the same its very probable

If you are talking something like the cuban missile crisis i think we already have it with what bush is saying now about USING nukes

so i would have to say we are already IN the second cold war i just hope its not the opening act to the end of the world

  10. Kmguru- but it's not just about terrorism anymore. When this war started, the main objective was to get rid of the taliban and Al-Qaeda, and kill Osama bin Laden.

Now somewhere during the course of events a whole lotta other countries have been named as candidates for attack. First we have the whole "axis of evil" thing (since when have Iran and Nth Korea started collaborating, anyway?).

Now Bush is trying to rally support in the middle east to take on Iraq.

And now there's the whole nuclear thing which has reared it's ugly head, which for a start is blatant hypocrisy, as well as threat to the entire world.

Remeber Io Aurelia, thats what the terrorists wanted all along. They wanted to drag the world down into their own hell. That means killing you, Io Aurelia. Don't worry, they didn't forget Australia, your infidels too. Welcome to the club.

There are a few countries out there that do not play by the rules. Who decides? It is us G8 nations plus a few wanabes. The idea is, the world will be better off if everybody plays by the rule. And hence the "axis of Evil" - nothing personal.

No matter how you cut it, that is the bottom line. You solve that, God will put you incharge of the galaxy.

  13. Yeah I know, but what's your point?

You see - if this is everything the terrorists wanted all along (ie War) then they're the ones you should pointing your finger at, not us

  16. But you've decided to go along with it, so you're just as bad.

Imagine someone came up to you, and said "Hey, I hate you and I want to fight you"

If you decide to fight them, then you're just as bad as the perpetrator.

Anyway, maybe the terrorists and their supporters wanted a war, but the normal people living in the country didn't. Neither did all the other countries that were named by Bush.

  17. Look, ICARRYALOTOFBULLETS. Just because I don't happen to agree with you, it doesn't mean my perception is cloudy. From where I am, your perception looks not just a little cloudy, but like you're lost in some impenetrable fog.

If you don't have anything to add to the debate, then don't post.

And your lost in a black void...ho-hum. But thanks for the example, so...
I laughed at this, not because its funny but surprising. What if someone walked up to your family, said they didn't like you and than kicked your little son or daughter in the face instead because your too strong. While he's stomping your kid, he says he hates you, and won't rest till you were all dead. Now how long will it be before you stop him from beating your kid.

The normal people than need to get off their ass and do something about these morons, so we don't have too. Makes sense huh?
    Like wise.

I disagree because what you are saying is that everyone sits back is there little homes and lets your GOVERMENT run the show. YOU PEOPLE VOTE SO YOU ARE THE RESPONABLE ONES. YOU CANT JUST SAY OH ITS NOT MY FAULT WHAT MY GOVERMENT DOSE. I didn't even vote for little johny but as a member of the voting puplic of Australia what he doses is done in MY name to. I am responcable for the actions of the goverment of Australia just as much as ANYONE else is.

Although i have to STRONGLY DISSAGREE with the actions of 11/9 i have to ask myself would anyone CARE what these people though before then. Has ANYONE here looked more into world politics SINCE 11/9. I am ashamed to admit that i did that

    You attack the weakest:
In this case, they attacked our civilian population. If they hadn't of done that, they would of been left alone. But with their arrogance, they dragged their people into war, so they could walk up to CNN and say, "look what they do, we are a peaceful people. They do this because their jew lovers and hate arabs". Well, what could I say to that. I don't hate arabs, never have. I think someone said in another post that America didn't care about what happened in afghanistan till 9/11. Your right. The world didn't care, because everyone was busy minding their own business. Thats all we want. This has nothing to do with our wanting their oil. They want that, because other then oil, they have nothing to trade. Nothing to trade, they die! Why do you think they give us oil yet they say they hate us? Their not stupid. How's that for hating America's capitalism. But it's capitalism that puts food on your table so your family can eat. What do you think?:bugeye:
