Before I begin let me clarify what Civil Disobedience is. The act of disobeying a law or set of laws willingly, peacefully, and without endangerment of human life.

Now my questions is, would you be willing to commit Civil Disobedience if you so strongly believed that a law is gross, inhumane, and must be eliminated?
My answer is YES, while many would answer no.
My question to those of you who would answer no is WHY?
Of course, many would be afraid of the punishments. But if we are so afraid, then not only will these laws be allowed to go on, but it will cause even worse and oppressive laws to evolve.
An example would be Orlando, Florida's ordinance not allowing a group feeding of the homeless and poor withing 2 miles of City Hall. This include Lake Eola, one of the most populated homeless areas. Many have, and are planning (including myself) to commit Civil Disobedience and break this obscene law. All steps have been taken before this extreme, including a lawsuit stating that the law was unconstitutional and inhumane which failed in our oh-so-wonderful legal courts.
    So whats your opinion?

Because there are other ways to change they way the laws are. One way would be to have a homeless person arrested along with a person who was feeding him/her. That way you are now going to have your day in court. After you are found guilty you then appeal the decision to a higher court which could over turn the law as unconstitutional and therefor must be disposed of.

    I think it's lost it's power.

People break the law every day and don't even know it, there are sooo many fucking stupid laws. People break laws that are stupid or they know are bullshit.

It's pretty much a waste of time, modern western governments deal with Civil Disobedience daily, as soon as a leader emerges he is doomed to ruin from a myriad of methods.

I'd absolutely be willing to engage in civil disobedience.

If the government outlawed ownership of certain firearms (or even all firearms), I certainly wouldn't turn my guns in.

If the government made it against the law to be agnostic, I'd simply refuse to attend church/mosque/synagogue or swear allegiance to atheism.

    So on and so forth...

    Good for this thread.

I'd like to know what kind of "civil disobedience" is being implicated here.

Pay attention to the hooded little minion who says you're either a friend or enemy. Wonder what he's talking about? What kind of civil disobedience does he have in mind? Sounds like a kind, forgiving soul.
