Is the existence of ethnic groups just a giant shared hallucination? ;)

On thinking it through, it dawns on me now that my ethnicity is Surfer. At last I feel I have a home. I can now experience what Tariana terms "indigenaity" and I like it. Surfers do share a common history tracing our story back to the Polynesian wave riders of Raiatea and Hawaii, through recent developments from Duke Kahanamoku’s World tour in the early twentieth century, to the Californian surf renaissance of the sixties and on to the current global surf culture.

I think a cool ethnicity is Elf. They get to live on lavish movie sets, speak a beautiful language, and wonder around looking grim and immortal and emo. :D

I wish I could just claim something other than white on scholarship applications. Seriously, racism is still alive and well in that realm and I don't say that because I happen to be white, I say that because I discovered a friend of mine who's black, but a slightly lighter black like there's some mix in her, isn't eligable for black scholarships because, by blood, she is only 1/8th black when they require you to be 1/4th! In otherwords thhere is a line drawn for where you are or are not a "race"! That, by definition, is racism! I'm all for affirmitive action, I just think there are better ways of doing things than saying "one out of four of your grandparents were black as night, you get money!"

Honestly though, I like myself, part spanish, part scandinavian, best of both :)
