A resolution to impeach the Vice President (http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/politics/la-na-impeach7nov07,1,518923.story?coll=la-news-politics-national) is going to Committee. The American system of checks and balances, and the potential for accountability under our system of government can't be written off just yet.

I'm sorry hypewaders, I can't recall such a system ever being in our government.

It's true. The Republicans voted for it out of some perverse strategy of making the Democrats talk about it in hopes Americans will laugh it off. It may have backfired.

Nope. It was good strategy - as I said in the other thread, it will never make it back out of committee and the Republicans know that.. And the final effect will be that it will make the efforts of the Democrats look as foolish as they really were. It was only a half-baked idea anyway and the attempt was to give the impression that they were actually DOING something. It's now completely backfired on them by exposing the vain attempt AND by showing how impotent they really are.

Please note that I'm an Independent and do NOT support either party in the least! Just telling it like it really is on both sides.

But Congress is having difficulty sneaking it out of in the oven. The Vice President is the public servant most responsible for fabricating a threat of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction, that has resulted in great damage to US interests. He fabricated evidence of a relationship between Iraq and al Qaeda. He now threatens Iran without any credible threat by Iran to the United States, also undermining our nation interests and security. It is increasingly apparent that the President has not been at the helm of this disastrous administration, while the Vice President has. Just because Speaker Pelosi believes this is not the business on the American People does not make it so. Bipartisan attempts to sideline this nationally-definitive Constitutional issue are problematic, because it is genuine.

It's NOT going to happen. NO ONE will be impeached.

The politicians need to get back to the BIG problems in the USA like terrorists and criminal aliens. Not going after our lovable pitbull. :D

you probably thought the clinton impeachment was needed. people like you are one of the biggest problems for this country. and it was the republicans that allowed the bill to go forward so why don't we stay in the realm of truth and reality

The real story:

Once again, certain people (like the one who started this thread) are betraying their bias and their zealotry.

No. Criminal aliens, terrorists, and liberals are the biggest problems in my country. I am part of the solution. I am helping to keep people's @sses alive--even liberals... :)

The incompetence of the Democratic leaders is astounding. They've accomplished almost nothing during their tenure in office and are constantly being outmaneuvered by the minority. It's no wonder their approval rating is at a historic 11%, which even makes Bush's approval rating look good!

I don't think either party is interested in doing anything until the tomfoolery that is the presidential election finishes.

I think the bastard should be impeached. I place the blame more on him than Bush for this war.

And please... don't get in a political discussion about this war with me. I've got my own personal issues with it seeing how I served two deployments over there. Thanks guys.

You took the Queens shilling, so you do the Queens bidding, your a soldier and you volunteered for the job, deployments go along with the job, the fancy uniform, and the pretty girls, and the education bennifits.

Now, Just why did you join the military?

I know, and as i've said many times before, I don't regret joining or serving. But again, I have my own personal issues with it that I honestly wish not to include in the conversation.

Well, impeaching Cheney would be something. It's what most Democrats want.

Do you mean people who vote for Democrats or the Democrats themselves? Because most of the Democrats in Congress clearly don't want impeachment...

Good point. I mean the Democratic base, the people. Some Democrats in office see things going their way already.
