I just tried it with three cell phones as shown in the first video. No popping.

a magnetron, the device that makes microwave ovens work, requires about 3,000 volts to operate. low end microwave ovens have a hard time of popping popcorn, i seriously doubt if 10,000 cells phones could do the job much less 4.

A cell phone only outputs around .7 watts. Microwave ovens output around 1 to 2 thousand watts. It takes a microwave a couple of minutes to get the kernels to begin to pop. How could something with less than 1/1000th of the power almost instantly pop the kernel. Definiate fake.

If the video were true, you would get burned everytime you made a cell phone call.

Myth Busters did something like this once. It was busted.

What Mac said. Cellphones, at not even 1 Watt of power just can't do it.

It's a fake. As Enmos said, MythBusters thoroughly busted this one.

I love it when people agree with me.

And we're just talkin' power..we're not even talkin' frequency. Microwave ovens pre-date cell phones. I don't think the designers of cell phones would pick 2.4Ghz as a carrier frequency, knowing that that range of EM excites water molecules.

Indeed, I mean, if that were the case, people's heads would absorb all the emissions, and there would be a blind spot, and cellphone users would have to align themselves physically towards a cellphone antenna to get a signal.

They are called conference calls. Google it.

All 4 people had a phone to dial with, so it wasn't a conference call.

In case anyone didn't feel like reading the snopes article, it was just trick photography. They dropped pieces of popcorn from offscreen and then edited out the unpopped kernels.

The people that made the fake videos reported how they did it many moons ago.

The guy didn't ask what was going on the video, but how to call several phones from one cellphone.

It's a pain the arse, but I actually listen to the questions people ask.
