I have some cd-r's that I want to burn some programs onto, but I think that they are only audio cd's. Do I have to buy special cd-r's that will record things other than music? Where do I find these?

You only need "music" blanks if you have a "consumer" stand-alone audio CD recorder. If you have a recorder attached to your computer or a "professional" deck then the "music" blanks will work no better or worse than "data" blanks.

My understanding is that music CD blanks include fee payed to the RIAA. In a computer they work just the same as regular blank CDs.

DVD-Rs are good for storing data. They hold considerably more data than a regular CD-R. Last time I checked, they hold a few gigabites of stuff, whereas CD-Rs only hold about .7 gigabites.

There are no special CD-Rs that record things other than music. The ones ya have should do the trick. Look on the case or the disk and see if it says "700 MB". If it does, it'll work.

there are some cds specially deveoped to burn high quality music, but they will burn data if you wan it to, as for DVDs they hold 4.7gb on a regual one, an a double layer it is 9.4gb

cd-r's hold data and music. just make sure you burn music as an 'audio cd' through your cd burning software and data as 'data cd'.

Nothing special required. You cannot install a program to cd though if that is what you meant. But you can of course save the set up files to cd by buring the files in the 'data cd' format as selcted through your software.

hope that help.

If you are lucky, your CD burner will be able to burn right over used CD-Rs and you will thank AOL for all those CDs..

Never seen an AOL cd, but 99.9999999% sure they are not CD/RW's or Rewritable cd's
