has most of you know, i have 2 adorable Norweigien forest cats, called Loki and Archie, they are the most lovely cats you could ever wish for, but i have a question about whiskers,

Last night i let Archie out, (and he was in one piece) but when i let him back ion about an hour later i saw that some sick minded evil twisted person, (i didnt swear) had cuts his lovely whiskers of, so my questions are,

    1, Will they grow back?
2, If so, how long will that take?
    3. And 3 what on earth goes throgh a "persons" (and i say person loosely) mind to do that? that is just evil.

    Help me please!

those sreaming noises are generally mating sounds.

That is awful, lucifers angel. How is Archie? Also, I am wondering how this could have happened - is Archie a very passive and friendly cat? I don't think this could ever happen to my cats as one is too shy to get that close to humans and the other acts the victim at the slightest thing!

I hope Archie is ok. I can't believe somebody would do this.

    hello nicola,

thanks for your concern about Archie, but he is ok, yes he is very very passive cat, i know it seens real bad to think that people would consider doing this to somthing that is defencless, i have just been talking to the cat protection league and they seem to think that it can take upto a year for his whiskers to grow back.

All i can think is that someone coaxed him into they're house with food and then chopped of his whiskers, do people realise that cats whiskers are needed and are not there for decoration?

In his own way he looks rather "posh" with them trimmed like that, rather an elegant looking cat.

My little brother did that to our cat once. He didn't know they needed them. He thought he was helping because they were in the cat's way when they ate. It doesn't hurt them and they grew back. They only needed them to feel their way around and since it was a house cat, I don't know if it really needed them at all.

I find a stray whisker in the house at least once a week. I don't know if they shed them or they get pulled out while playing.
