I need more choices!

You should have nominated yourself so that there would have been more choices. The thing about it is, if you like the site you should stand up and be counted. The site does not just happen. Porfiry puts in a lot of hard work to keep it going. By being a mod, you allow him to focus on what he does best, keep the site going. That takes folks to say, "I'll help."

Good point wet1. I could have run. But I didnt. I left for about five days... And I wouldnt run against Pollux anyways. He has my vote to. Not because he's my friend, but because he's a good person and a great mod.

Thanks, I appreciate your point but I will be no good as moderator.
Besides, this site charges for the avatar with all the traffic it gets, I don’t find it fair particularly knowing the little of management that it requires.
I don’t mind money making but we have too many students and low income here, and the owners are already making enough profit.

Microzoft,

I think Porfiry is forking out his own money to maintain this. What gave you the idea that he's making money out of this?

Porfiry makes no money off of sciforums. The choice to pay for your avatar is yours, its to help him pay for it.

Adam would be a horrible moderator. He posts tons of anti-American propaganda in this forum, which bashes America for no purpose other than to bash America.

VOTE POLLUX! I must admit that I’m not sciforums’s auditor or accountant, but I do know the way in
which this sort of things are managed. You are all free to believe what ever. I just stated
my opinion. Besides, many members and mods invest very valuable time in maintaining this
sciforums interesting so that active membership participation its sustained. And of course, the more activity, the more gain.

I say I post the news, and if the USA happens to be in the news, then that is not my fault. Look, I can back that up: http://www.sciforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15253

I don't like the Bush administration, nor do I support the war in Iraq, but being anti-Americian just for the sake of being anti-American is wrong. Our government may not always be right, but it certainly isn't always wrong. Protest the war, and the Republician party, but don't take your discontent out on everything American.

I asked a question. Not about the USA, but about another country. How is that even slightly anti-American?

Well, he has dropped poison gas on his own people, and most of them live in extreme poverty, while he lives in luxury.

The USA nuked two cities, tested bio/chem weapons on its own people, and has twenty million people living in poverty while Bush sits in the Whitehouse. What's your point? See notes*.

The misuse of mass media

Again, it was a comment on the active use of the press and broadcast services to support government policy through entertainment. What is anti-American about it?

See notes*.

Mentioning facts is not anti-American or anti-anything. Facts are without bias. Opinions have bias.

Do you see anything on what Adam is commenting as an action in the interest of its citizens??
Why is it to you, that bringing our government’s actions into discussions it’s Anti-American???

There is nothing wrong with "bring our government's actions into discussions," but constantly criticizing the gov everytime it makes a move is certainly "un-American." Again, our government isn't always right, but it isn't always wrong. The world would be a much different place without America.

No government on earth it’s always right, but that its obvious and really nothing to do what its at hand. Our government actions are frequently targeted because we like to have our hands everywhere and as powerful as we think we are, we could not survive without the outside world and since our economy depends and had always depended so much on the outside, we had always given priority to the sociopolitical interest influencing it in every way we can.
Yes, the world could definitely be a different place without America.

You still haven’t answer it!

Microzoft,

I can understand how more activity or increased membership can lead to more gain if a site has advertisements or a paying membership. But in the case of Sciforums, I don't think there's any advertising to speak of and membership is still free. So I don't see where the profit is coming from.

Alright, I'm thinking that I need to make some sort of a statement, in order to garner more votes.

Since the 2000 election I have held a perpetual interest in politics and world events. In fact, five days a week I watch CNN for about half an hour before going to school. I watch it not because I believe it, but because I enjoy looking for the deceit that they layer on everything. I took a class back in my freshman year (9/11 was the tuesday of my second week in high school) that encouraged me to question the media, a thing that I had never before then thought to even consider. I didn't believe everything they were saying, of course, but as I looked closer and closer I found that they were ignoring so many things for their own financial and political gain. I've read some of Chomsky and watched a few hours of video with him speaking, you should definitely look him up, even if he's a libertarian...

I'd like to think that in a world of six billion people that I could help some of them out, that I could, to use a cliché, make a difference in their lives. I’m tired of false promises that our fellows up top make every other election, I'm so tired of the degredation our world has gone through since civilization began. I almost wish I were more naive than I am now, to think that I could actually turn things around for the better is ludicrous, to think that one day, I could fulfill a dream of mine is not quite ludicrous, but still crazy. Still naive.

In this forum, I stand for absolute free speech, with the exception of unnecessary (as deemed by me) swearing. I would endeavour to increase discussion, to make it more enthralling for those who would participate in it (by asking better questions, by playing devils advocate). That's what this place is about--debate, and I want it to just become a wild orgy of discussion, a place that you'd cry your eyes out upon leaving and cry again when coming back.

It's easy to be naive
And tougher
To believe

Vote Pollux!:p
