A while ago my son was riding his bike, when a BMW driver nearly killed him, the driver of the car wasnt paying attention to the road, when my son indicated that he was going left, and so did the BMW driver, and knocked my son of his bike and sent him flying over a wall, my son needed 22 sticthes in his hand and arm and physiotherapy, the driver was a total arrogant tosser,

And i have noticed that this seems to be the norm with BMW drivers they dont indicate, they dont like stopping at the pedestrian crossing, they are just arogant,

I have seen a perfectly nice person get into a BMW and turn into a wild animal, and when i asked they changed like that they said that, "i have a really safe car, and everyone should respect that, so i can drive how i want"

so what cars trun people into assholes in your opinions?

Its no secret mine are BMW drivers, if i could i would send that all to a desserted island, and it is mostly teenage males drivers, who have somthing to prove to a pretty girl.

so also do you think that there should be a gap of about 2yrs before someone who has just passed they're test should drive a powerful car?

note to self: Stick to small friendly european cars, then run over bicyclists.
Yes, there should be a gap, but it doesn't mean that other cars aren't less dangerous .

Cars turn every driver into a slightly different person.
Minis used to turn people into irritating little bugs.

    And it's not just cars.
What makes cyclists believe that pavements are a cycle track?
In my day we used to ride in the gutter,
constantly ringing a little tinkly bell like a plague victim.
Now they wear spandex racing togs and push you out of the way.
    Garumph.

    Oh, and prams,
but don't get me started on prams.
    And shopping trolleys, and umbrellas.

Here's another person who hates BMW drivers.
You could get in contact and start a BMW haters club.

I think it's the other way around. Arrogant idiots buy a particular kind of car.

When people are inside a car they feel a certain sense of anonymity they don't feel when they are walking. They are encased in a steel body that tends to hide them from view. They need not interact with people they pass. There are no pleasantries like a nod, a tip of the hat, or a smile. They interact with their fellow men and women only in the most cursory manner. This causes them to act differently. They do not feel the same constraints to follow the rules of good behavior pedestrians feel. No one sees them. No one knows them. They will be gone in a flash.

Not in the UK. We have a system of road etiquette, generally accepted, which is acknowledged by raised hands, light flicking and placatory gestures. It does result in us having a lower road accident casualty than most countries.

It may result from our roads being like a maze.
If we weren't careful, we'd all be dead.

LA- I'm sorry about your son. I hope he's ok. The driver of that car was inconsiderate. I think Enmos and Till have it right. It's more the driver than the car. But you have an interesting observation about BMW drivers. I find the worst drivers are in SUVs, trucks, and vans. Except the old people--they're usually in Buicks, Cadilacs, Chevies and Oldsmobiles.

Hey. I have Hummers and I drive them very respectfully. They're too big/powerful to act stupid in.

My first car after passing was (is) a Jaguar XJ6, 3.2 litre, I also own an XJS 3.6 litre, and I don't think it's a matter of what you should be allowed to drive when you pass your test, it's more a matter of HOW you drive once you pass your test.

You are right though, BMW drivers are dickheads.

Cyclists should stay on the pavement because:

    1) They don't pay tax to go on the road so they shouldn't be there slowing everyone else down.
    2) So we don't have to come round a corner on a 60mph country road to see some fucking IDIOT on a bike doing 15mph forcing everyone behind him down to his speed, or causing someone who wasn't expecting them to be there to hit the brakes and put the guy behind him into the back of their car.

Alternatively they should stop being cheap bastards and JUST BUY A CAR and stop pissing everyone off.

I suppose that made ME look like a dickhead....

Q: What's the difference between a BMW and a porcupine?
A: Well, with the porcupine, the pricks are on the outside.

I think there are two kinds of BMW drivers:
-ones who buy/drive one for the status
-ones who buy for the performance

Unfortunately, the ones who buy them for status far outweigh the ones who buy them for performance.
I was seriously pondering trading my WRX for the new 135i that's coming out this Spring. But I was getting it for its performance capability, not its status. Then I decided that my WRX was a better car for what I wanted out of a car anyway.

I think I turn into a different person when I get behind the wheel as well. But my aggravation is usually pointed at other, stupid drivers, not pedestrians. I'm always very polite, respectful and courteous to pedestrians.
It's the other drivers that change lanes or turn w/o using their signal, the ones who are blabbing on the cell phone paying no attention to traffic, that piss me off to no end.

Cyclists. They just don't think of the cost of redoing your paintwork do they?
Funny thing, no-one is standing up for BMW drivers.
Come on Big Mad W*****s, defend yourselves.

Per what I said about two kinds of Bimmer drivers, I will stand up for the ones who buy the Bimmers for performance.
They just tend to have a different mentality. They are about performance, not status. That tends to keep them more level headed and not snooty like the status people.
