Sounds like a joke, doesn't it? When I first heard this story I thought it was a hoax.

Pet Valu Inc. stores carry a product called Bark Bars, dog biscuits that are shaped like cats and letter carriers. Sounds like silly fun, doesn't it? Not to Canadian postal workers. There will be no joking around when it comes to delivering the mail in Canada.

"This is not in any way, shape, or form funny for us, and to make light of that ... I don't see that as funny at all, not even in the least," said the postal service's spokesman. They managed to convince the pet store chain to stop carrying the offensive doggie treats.

Whoah. Is it just me or do these folks seem a little uptight? I've always heard the stereotypes about Canadians being a bit on the stuffy side, this seems to underscore that reputation. I'm not a Canadian citizen, can someone comment on this? Surely this is an abberation.

IF its true, instead of complaining about the biscuits, the postal service should ask for a bunch of the biscuits from the Pet Valu Inc free. Then every postmen could carry a couple in their mailbag in case they get attacked by a crazy dog, then instead of munching on the postman, the dog could munch on a postman doggie treat and the carrier could make a safe getaway. But then again it might give the dogs more reason to attack.

"This is not in any way, shape, or form funny for us"

I love the pun.

Are we to also assume the Canadian Postal Service believes dogs have the capacity to reason that the biscuits are actually in the form of a postman?

I don't think that's the point, Q.

Of course that's not the point - sheesh!

There are more dimensions than just one.

Of course, I can see why people are upset.

If someone was feeding dogs food that was shaped like me, I wouldn't be very happy.

Why would you care?

I'd be demanding royalties.

Stereotypes about Canadians being on the stuffy side? Really? I've never heard anything like that. Granted, the one time I was in Canada was in Vancouver, the night the Canucks won the division for the first time in ten years, but still ... I mean, look at their celebrities ... Mike Myers, Dan Akroyd, a buncha shitty bands ... not uptight types.

Shit, look at the postmen in the States. It's been awhile now, but those guys used to go off like a drunken Heston celebrating New Year's every time the stamp machine jammed ... compared to that, complaining a bit ain't that bad.

Canadians are hypocrites.

They and the Americans are essentially interchangeable. There is very little difference in lifestyles aside from their governing bodies. Canucks have few freedoms, their government tells them where and when to take a crap while pilfering their wallets in order to line their own.

But if you sit down and talk to them over a beer, they'll be more than happy to tell you how much they hate the US and wouldn't venture there even if you stuck a needle in their eye.
