View Full Version : Can't You People...
...create some real bios? It's not that it would affect my acceptance or rejection of your views, but really now -- if I'm semi-hanging out now and then with y'all's brains, I'd like to know a wee bit about what's housing them.
Are you all 13, or what? All American? All male? Can you tell us a tiny bit more than your home town?
Athelwulf 11-14-04, 07:00 PM I think my profile is a bit more filled out than other people's profiles. Have a look for yerself.
Athelwulf 11-14-04, 07:01 PM Oh, I see . . . We're talking about biographies. Never mind about me, mine leaves a lot to the imagination. Literally. :D
Create bios, on the internet? We're all here to escape our mundane lives and pretend we're something special.
It would be nice though, wouldn't it, to know everyone's history, so we can know where they're coming from. Or dismiss their opinions because in real life they're losers and so what they think is just a response to sucking.
I'm sure I'm not just speaking for myself here.
Roman... If you're smart and funny *here*, you gotta have something going on outside of the virtual realm. I should hope.
Athelwulf, yes, I've seen your cutie profile. Shnausages!
Dreamwalker 11-15-04, 04:56 AM Oh, there really is a Biography section in the user profile... fancy that. And I even filled it out, what's wrong with "Born to die as time passes by"? I never thought anyone would read it anyway.
Of course, it would be possible to write more specific info there.
Your bio says:
In the merry land of the undead, blind and mutilated idiots
Wow! I live there too! Toronto, right?
c20H25N3o 11-15-04, 10:59 AM I live near London, England. I am 32, married with 4 kids, 3 girls under 11 and one boy who is 4.
I am a software systems analyst / senior programmer / tea maker but I really excel in tea making so I think I am going to forget the diversity and just stick to tea ;)
I live in a small home given the size of my family and so often have to give up my bed to the kids and the missus and I end up sleeping in one of theirs.
I love pistachio nuts. I could eat pistachio nuts until the insides of my guts turn green (which they often do)
I love writing and playing Soul Calibre II whilst stuffing my face with pistachio nuts. I smoke a little of the green stuff for my back problems and cos its quite relaxing all round.
I drive a people carrier which often has some horrible R&B in the cd player at the bequest of my 2 eldest girls but when they are not in there I can often be found playing Soundgarden, Linkin Park, Godsmack, Stone Sour, Ozric Tentacles, Faith No More and anything that is not remotely R&B.
I play lots of pool when I can and I thank you Americans for 9 ball cos its better than the English game by far. Oh and I am a Christian but you knew that ;)
There you go ... something and nothing ;)
peace
c20
p.s. I LOVE flying KITES. Nothing beats flying a kite on a beach. A proper kite, not the crap ones you would buy in wal-mart but one that costs a hundred dollars or so.
I am 32, married with 4 kids, 3 girls under 11 and one boy who is 4.
 married with kids?!! shite.. and you even dare to say that gays are unnatural.
That's not even poligamy, not even adultery.. that's something really, really fucked up!
Dreamwalker 11-15-04, 12:46 PM [...]
Wow! I live there too! Toronto, right?
Nah, just the world in general, or Germany in specific, or what is considered the western world.
Dreamwalker 11-15-04, 01:09 PM Hmm, I just tried to write a more extensive biography into my user profile, until I noticed that the space is a bit limited, so, if anyone cares, I will put it here:
Born 4th of July 1984 in Hamm, Germany.
I went through the highest school form the German school system offers and graduated. Now I am attending the University of Bielefeld and study Linguistics and Literature.
I am not married or engaged with anyone at the moment. And I like to write texts (I suppose you can see that) and read books. This of course is increasingly boring after some time, so I like to engage in more or less dangerous activities (like cliff diving) to make life more interesting.
If anyone cares, my favorite kind of music is heavy metal and I really like to visit big metal open airs in summer.
Oh, and I also like to drink very, very much alcohol, favorites are vodka and whiskey (not that American piss, Irish or Scottish is much better), and when I can be bothered I also take drugs of various kinds/origins.
I do not belong to any religion, the reason for that would be that I am an atheist.
If you still did not fall asleep, congratulations.
PS: How can a good christian like C20 listen to Godsmack? Somehow, that does not fit...
Thanks. I am actually very interested in your bios.
C20... Come on! Gobsmack... Haha! I dunno. Something about you isn't gelling. Or maybe I'm more narrow-minded than I realize. :bugeye:
I'm a senior in highschool, but am in the local private schools Early Honor's program, so my last year of highschool is first year of college.
All this free time, so hard to handle....
I have a job at the USGS molecular ecology lab, and just landed freelance for the local paper.
I too, enjoy a good drink and drugs.
Hardcore atheist here. I have a problem of explaining everything in terms of ecological response.
I attend the punk shows in my little burg, but am not very punk. No ripped up shit, or hair, or spikes. Actually, I'm kinda of sporting a pseudo-mullet; very seventies. I just haven't cut my hair for 18 months.
Hmmm, I want to grow up to be a surf bum in Australia, but my family would never let me.
OverTheStars 11-16-04, 01:58 PM So, basically, the purpose of this thread is to write a short biography of ourselves?
sargentlard 11-16-04, 09:08 PM I am a 14 year old from Wisconsin (the cheese state...lollllZZZ!!!!). I am a male in junior high school and hatin it..ya'll know what it is like. My hobbies are skateboarding, drawing Yugioh characters (that show is soooo good) and hanging out with my friends. I found this place about a year ago while searching for info for an assignment on a blackhole and this place became my blackhole lolllllll.
I live with adopted parents (yuppers..i am adopted O_O). my 2 brother. my rabbit trixie. My 2 dogs and my parrot. i wanna move to europe when i grow up but right now i am just wasting my time in wisconson (ewwwwwww).
Hi....nice to meet you guys...i guess it is about time i shared my personal stuff lol...its bee na year. lol

sargentlard 11-16-04, 09:18 PM Which came first the, yugioh card or the show? Or was it both?
The card game..the show only adds to the coolness of it all...
yayyyy Yu-gi-oh.
Athelwulf 11-17-04, 12:41 AM . . .
Sargentlard . . . Are ya seriously only 14?! I thought ya were much older . . . judging from that avatar, which ya've admitted once is a pic of ya.
I know he's atleast 18/19 and I agree with him on his stance about this thread.
Communist Hamster 11-17-04, 02:05 AM Yeah, I thought he was much older too. Just goes to show what you can assume from peoples posting style and their avatars
Dr Lou Natic 11-17-04, 04:47 AM I never would have guessed he was adopted either. Man, you think you know people.
morons

Well Jaysus. What's wrong with putting your thoughts in context for the people you're virtually hanging out with? It's not like anyone's putting a gun to anyone's head, either.
And by the way... Yes I am in Toronto and yes that's me in the avatar. Yes, I teach. Yes, I'm extremely immature for my age -- even though I have grown-up responsibilities I can't get past 14 and sometimes I'm sure I've been tricked into believing that I was born in 1970 even though my brain and body say no way. My profile is pretty honest. Not to say everyone else's profile is dishonest... They're just skimpy.
So, like, I'm the oldest member here, right? Holy mackerel.
Chagur was in his 70s while he posted

It's not that. I'm just fully comfortable with speaking with little names and avatar pictures on my screen. For all I know you all are chatbots. Somehow I like the idea.
whitewolf 11-17-04, 03:42 PM I would never write my autobiography. I have nothing to say in it. I don't even know where to start. Like me as is, and if you wish to know me better, stalk me out and read all of my posts.
Heheh, to me, all humans are humans, dear friends until proven otherwise.
sargentlard 11-17-04, 06:26 PM I never would have guessed he was adopted either. Man, you think you know people.
morons
Why?...adopted kids exude some sort of an adopted kids vibe?
So Avatar and Lou were the only ones to catch on to Sarge's mocking... interesting.
Hey Sarge, how're your muscles coming? Lookin liek teh brad pit yet?
hotsexyangelprincess 11-17-04, 08:28 PM im 16. i got in a car crash 3 weeks after getting my liscense. it was an accident. im a junior in high school. i only have a 4.0, despite the fact that all my grades are weighted. I have no girlfriend, but am not gay. i play halo 2 and Frag. i have an enormous test on existentialism tomorrow. i hate you guys for distracting me :m:
Chagur was in his 70s while he posted
And whatever happened to Chagur? Did he croak, and does this portend the same fate for whomever is oldest here?
sargentlard 11-17-04, 09:18 PM And whatever happened to Chagur? Did he croak, and does this portend the same fate for whomever is oldest here?
Got bored and left...it happens to anyone who stays here long enough.
goofyfish 11-17-04, 09:21 PM Except for Tiassa.
;) Peace.
sargentlard 11-17-04, 09:25 PM Except for Tiassa.

Some have higher pain threshold than others. I think he just needs an audience for his brilliance...he has heard, seen, read it all already...he just needs readers for his words now.
Athelwulf 11-18-04, 01:17 AM Below is a miniautobiography of yers truly. If ya wanna read a little more about me, go see my bio (http://athelwulf.tripod.com/MyBio.html) at my homepage (http://athelwulf.tripod.com/index.html).
My name is Patrick Vroman. Some people call me "Rick". Some call me "Peter". I go by "Athelwulf" on the Internet.
I live in Klamath Falls, Oregon, USA. I was born there on August 5th, 1988 and have lived there since. I am 16 years old. I am the older brother of my two siblings, a brother and a sister.
I am a Junior in high school. I am the Junior class treasurer and an editor for my high school's newspaper.
What kind of music I listen to depends on my mood. I like Coldplay, Evanescence, Nickelback, Linkin Park, Metallica, Black Eyed Peas, Keane, Avril Lavigne, Michelle Branch, and Britney Spears.
I am a libertarian-leaning liberal. I'm mostly a radical, but I agree with conservatives on some things. But overall, I'm like a hippy. I have a very open mind about things.
I am a Pantheist. I usually tell people that I'm Atheist so that I don't have to bother explaining what a Pantheist is. I don't like it when people think they are so sure there's a God, but I'm tolerant of their beliefs, and I can even be friends with them.
I would consider myself a right-brain kind of man. I listen to music a lot, write, take pictures, learn about languages, and think about stuff. I have a deep interest in ethics, philosophy, and other abstract things.
I am a Leo with a Taurus Moon and a Scorpio Ascendant. Pluto and Mars are the rulers of my chart and are fairly strong in my chart - Pluto because it's in Scorpio, a sign it rules, and is close to the Ascendant line; Mars because it's in Aries, a sign it rules, and it rules Scorpio, my Ascendant, with Pluto.
My Native American animal spirit is the bolf, a bear-wolf hybrid. It is a very rare animal spirit. Throughout all known Native American history, there have only been a few people known to have been a bolf.
I am a social kind of person. I absolutely hate being alone. I cling to people that are friendly to me. Friendly people are hard to find, so I try to hang out only with those people.
I'm a very curious and inquisitive man. If I have any kind of interest in something, I disect it and learn it intimately.
I get very angry sometimes. I'm very vindictive. I love to get my own way and have a say in things that concern me.
I found SciForums on the 17th of June, 2004. I forgot how I found the place, but I know that I had seen this place before that date. The "Three Word Story" thread was responsible for making me register. I wanted to post in it.
After a while, I started to journey more out of the Cesspool, and I found a wealth of threads I was interested in. I jumped right in and started posting, sharing my opinions and my knowledge with the rest of the SciForumers.
I am a proud, regularly-posting member of SciForums today. I enjoy posting my views of the world and having people I don't know read them. I've made friends here. I actively IM four members here, and I have referred four of my friends. I now have over 1000 posts.
Well since you ask pixel,
I was born in the late 60's in rural Ohio. ...
Mm hmm. My leg's being pulled, right? NOBODY's had that much happen to them.
Below is a miniautobiography of yers truly...
See? Bios are so interesting. :)
Insanely Elite 11-18-04, 06:47 PM Mm hmm. My leg's being pulled, right? NOBODY's had that much happen to them.
You asked, Dollface.
Perhaps that is one of the tragically hip things about the web.
I 'could' be a 14 year old girl pullin' yer leg.
There is no way to prove anything in cyberspace.
Yet all I wrote is indeed the truth.
I left out the more esoteric events.
Maybe it is because you are a teacher that I didn't list many failed college attempts.
My distant brother is a classics professor.
Maybe that's why I took the chance of a bio. I can get rather paranoid.
Connection. Isn't that why we communicate.
I have nothing to gain by putting on airs.
Maybe it is because you are a teacher that I didn't list many failed college attempts.
Oh, no worries there -- I was and am the worst student in history. I'm a good teacher -- not by virtue of my formal education, but by virtue of the fact that I was too smart to do well in school. Ehehe.

I am a five year old man in a thong.
I am a five year old man in a thong.
That's exactly -- but EXACTLY -- how I pictured you.
:D
Repo Man 11-18-04, 11:23 PM While not exactly my biography, the following describes me pretty closely.

Athelwulf 11-18-04, 11:30 PM Is that a real article?! What was it published in?
Repo Man 11-18-04, 11:33 PM But this one really hits the nail squarely on the head.
http://www.shocking.com/~z29/depression1.jpg
Athelwulf 11-18-04, 11:40 PM Are they real?!
Repo Man 11-18-04, 11:45 PM They are from The Onion, www.theonion.com . The Utterfailure one made me laugh until my stomach hurt years ago. But I could really see much of myself in him. And the depression guy. My personality is the most effective form of birth control on the planet.
I think it was after I read the depression one that I began to realize the best thing I could do for people I like was to avoid spending time with them. So that leaves me plenty of time for arguing with strangers on an internet forum.
What are these, articles from The Onion?
You NC freakazoids...
HOLY CRAP. We posted at the exact same time -- I was asking about The Onion when you posted about The Onion... I think our brains are connected.
