For some reason I cannot logout. I hit LogOut and a 2nd place that has always logged me out here but nothing happens. Guess I'll be permanently logged in. Weird.

    Clear your cookies.

As far as I know, this is what people call the "Logout bug."

I never log out... I am the only one that uses this computer.

If I login from school, I clear all the cookies.

No. What I call the logout bug is where you have to logout on that second screen. But, I found a few weeks back that internet explorer wouldn't let me log out. I would go through both screens and it would tell me that I was logged out and all cookies were cleared, then it'd dump me back on the main page still logged in.

I tried clearing out my cookies. Didn't work.

I emptied my temporary internet files folder. Didn't work.

Cleared cookies again. Scoured the drive for other locations I thought might have held cookies. Finally, something I deleted did the trick and I was logged out.

Don't know if it still does it. I don't use IE. Only used it that day for a fluke.

Exactly what happened to me. I'm using Internet Exporer too, at work, so I CAN'T delete alot of stuff, including cookies. These computers are loaded with filters and blocks and stuff. I would click LogOut THEN always have to click the 2nd screen. This time the 2nd screen doesn't come up at all. It just says: "To Return to the Previous Page Click Here. And I'm still logged in. I sense it's a vast rightwing conspiracy designed to infuriate me!!!

    Try Firefox; it's much better.

Hmm. I thought that since that second screen didn't pop up, that the link provided on that screen might still work. That's how the logoff bug works, the main logoff button doesn't supply your user number. The second one does.

    Oh well.

    You're screwed.

Better delete those cybersex pm's before the next guy pops into your account.

    c:\> format c: /y

    I think that's it.

Or put a magnet over your hard drive.

    Problem solved.

uh genji? i wouldn't do what absane suggests.
i never heard of the format c: /y command but format c: will totally wipe out your hard drive.
the magnet deal will probably render your hard drive useless depending on how powerfull the magnet is.

Check your internet history the next time you log into your work account (you do have to log in, right?). You'll probably find that the history is cleared every time you log off the computer anyway, if this is what you're worried about.

The /y part is supposed to already say "yes" when it asks if you are sure or not. That way, it gets right to the screwing up.

Kinda embarrassing because I have almost 40 pc's to choose from but there are 5 in a location I prefer so I limited my choices. When this one fills with cookies I guess I'll just move one station to the right. thanks to all for your suggestions and help.
