The first thing to realize about your prescription eye glasses is this... you can attain the same or even better pair using the internet at a reasonable price, often times much lower. What can that mean for you in savings though? A 200 dollar pair of rimless, hingeless, titanium glasses will be 50 dollars from Zenni Optical, another online source might sell them for 100 dollars.. overall you will save no matter the place.

Do I have any proof you can buy a good pair of eyeware online? Why yes I do! I myself own a pair which right now I'm wearing.... these what they look like http://zennioptical.com/cart/product.php?productid=336&cat=7&page=1

As you can see you may change the frame color, lens type, and lens shape.

This requires that you have some prior knowledge of the eyeware you currently have on, the rule here will be to measure the lens width + height using a millimeter ruler. When you get the measurements it will tell you in rough estimate which shape would best suit you. The same will go for any other glasses you buy offline, always use your current set as a reference point.. it prevents you getting ones to large or big.

Next will be to ensure you have the script updated and ready for use. Many online stores will ask for the location of your exam, the doctors name, and the date.. always have this information on hand. Occasionally after your vision exam they'll simply say "thanks for coming in, goodbye". This is a trick of course, it's so you'll come back and pay 200 dollars for the same eye glasses you can find online for 100 or less. Make sure you say "might I be able to take my script with me for future reference please." They won't say no for fear of loosing you as a customer.

Once you have the script you just need to familiarize yourself with the measurements. OD is your right lens, OS is your left, remember these for the future even though you can easily find them when ordering. So what's next you might ask? How can I be certain I'll get the right pair? Well.... there are 2 ways..

    1. You've ordered from them before and are only changing your script, thus you get the same pair that works now for your need.

    2. You guess, based on your current eye glasses, which on their site will suit you best.

The upside to this little method is simple, I buy 2 50 dollar pairs and it's 100 dollars.. I get 2 pairs from the examination place and it's 400 dollars  You do the math...

It's important to understand that your script won't have the PD, Pupillary Distance.. this is to keep you from going off to order your own pair. Make sure you ask them this before leaving, or just go back and make them give it to you... they know you can buy offline and save mucho denro, thus they don't wanna let you so ommit the PD (distance between lens center).

1.57 index is the basic and most non-reflective lens type, it's good for low to moderate prescriptions.

Anything higher means thinner and lighter, best used with higher prescriptions..

So that's it, you can buy online and save alot..

An example of how you do this is...

    1. Examine your current eye glasses using a millimeter ruler, measure accross then up an down. These will help you determine the lens you will get.

    2. Examine the arm (ear thingie).. it will give a rough length for you to reference..

    3. Don't be afraid..

Here are some places to go looking, once you go through the motions abit you will find out how easy it can be, and with a wide range of styles you will be sitting pretty very soon.. and not depending on those gerks who want 200 dollars for eye glasses.
