President Bush seems to think bullying is the only way to deal with dissent. Bush has so much trouble articulating a defense for his own policies, so little capacity to formulate a reasoned response, that he resorts to shibboleths, name-calling or worse, using authorities to shut down his critics.

Classic Bush was his attack on Senate Democrats who refused to go along with his plan to strip workers at the new Department of Homeland Security of civil service rights. He quipped that senators were "not interested in the security of the American people."

Of course, U.S. senators can take care of themselves. Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle made quick work of Bush's scurrilous claims, pointing out to the former Texas National Guardsman that a number of Senate Democrats were actually injured fighting for the security of our country. (Full text here (http://www.sptimes.com/2002/10/13/Columns/President_seems_unabl.shtml)).President Bush seems to think bullying is the only way to deal with dissent. In a contest of ideas, conservatives are shooting blanks at best. All, and I do mean all, of their economic programs were proven unworkable in the 1980's. Now, it's no longer about creating the illusion of helping the economy, it's just about greed. The Greedy Oil Party only pretends to care about the public when an election roles around and even then only intensifies its PR campaign to fool gullible people into voting against their own self interests.

Dissent, particularly from the press, cannot be tolerated, lest the people connect the dots on the corrupt and incompetent administration. To minimize that possibility, the US news media has been bought out, lock, stock and barrel. Now, they can steal elections, hype tin horn dictators as "threats," ignore administration malfeasance, move the political news to the business section of the paper and routinely print vapid pieces that fluff the dimwitted Dauphin's air infallibility. If the press says that the boy king can do no wrong, who are we to argue? Anyone who has an IQ above 70 could poke a zip-code sized hole in that spurious argument in a heart beat.Bush has so much trouble articulating a defense for his own policies...The problem is two-fold:

First, he is incredibly inarticulate because, let's face it, he's not very bright. He's never been required to use that empty melon on top of his shoulders and it shows. Almost every time he opens his mouth, something stupid comes out. What's more, his ignorant utterances are merely an extension of his fuzzy thinking. It seems obvious that he hasn't put a whole lot of thought into any of that confusing "policy" stuff.

Second, I would hate to have to explain Smirk's policies. If you rule out pandering, self-aggrandizement and greed, his policies don't make any sense at all. I'm afraid all the sophistry required to explain the cynical policies of our commander-in-chief is beyond Bush, who has to fall back on his simple minded, cowboy bravado to make his points.[/list...so little capacity to formulate a reasoned response...As I said before, he's not very bright. This was one of his big "selling" points during Selection 2000. Vote for Bush. He may be dumb, but at least he's no liar. But of course, that was only half true: he is dumb and he's a liar. So we actually ended up with both and now we're paying the price. You gotta love that whore media....that he resorts to shibboleths, name-calling or worse, using authorities to shut down his critics.Bush will never be able to rise above the junior-high mentality that substitutes insults for debating points. He will always rely on well-paid sycophants to tell him what he wants to hear and bolster his delusions. I'll bet that on a daily basis, a member of the White House staff reads either George Will's or Charles Krauthammers blather to Bush while the others chant "see, they really love you out there..."The Secret Service is forced to skirt the 1st Amendment to nurture Bush's delusions. If reporters saw protesters, they might tell the wrong story. Let's make sure and keep the press away from anyone who might criticize the administration. It is clear to me that anyone who actually approves of the pathetic job that Bush is doing is either on the payroll or is woefully misinformed.

Bush will be spending the next 3 weeks travelling all over the place trying to prop up the republicans for the coming elections. If the Commander In Thief is in your city for a fund-raiser: Make up a sign stating the message you reallywant to deliver:
Impeach Bush, No War, whatever...
Make another sign that says something acceptable to the Administration:
Welcome Mr. President, God Bless USA, Let's Roll, whatever...
Tape sign 2 over sign 1.
Dress in appropriate GOP attire. Leave the tie-dye and the turtle puppets at home.
When the motorcade approaches, tear off sign 2 and proudly wave sign 1.... and if you do get arrested, but the elephants around you do not, contact the ACLU and sue the pants off your local police department and/or the Secret Service.

Peace.

Are you trying to tell us that we have it good?

What Britain did to India was certainly horrible, but we still have the right to dissenting views and the right to assert them and promote them without being disturbed by the gov't for doing so.

I am saying before you go after a man for parking tickets you should go after the man next door for murder. If you are going to yell at bush for an offense, yell at everyone still living who has committed a worse offense first.

Currently saddam is the biggest wrong in front of us. There will be others, but he is first.
