House Passes New Defense Bill

The Troops get a 3.5% pay raise.

The bill authorizes about $696 billion in defense spending, including $189 billion for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Besides the pay raises for service members, the bill's primary purpose is to guide Pentagon policy, including setting restrictions on the Pentagon's multibillion-dollar acquisition program.

what sort of restrictions are on Pentagon? And how exactly are these enforced?

Haven't had a chance to read the Bill yet, I'm 250,000,000 on the mailing list.

oh, you overestimate your so called freedom and underestimate the lawlessness of your government. On surface they all do their jobs...but lift that surface (http://www.law.com/jsp/article.jsp?id=1200594608313) and oh boy we all got in store for us "accidental" deaths and "unfortunate" and "unforeseen" circumstances...

Its only a matter of who hides their actions better...the GRU, FBR, and such or CIA, FBI and such...

Well anyway the troops are getting a well deserved pay raise, and V.A. will get their funding, and the the Retirees will get their raises.

A number of independent surveys were carried out in the mid to late-1990s to assess racial and political attitudes in the services, but these were confined mostly to in-depth interviews of officers attending war colleges, rather than on a large sample chosen at random.

Some of those surveys raised new alarms about a growing civilian-military gap in which military officers were found to be significantly more conservative than their civilian counterparts, and self-described "liberals," who had historically been well-represented in the army in particular, had all but disappeared from all of the services.
It actually says 7% of those serving in the military describe themselves as liberal. So I guess there are a few.

Guys like Tillman are exceptions.
