View Full Version : Bring back my favorite cancelled shows.

Dark Angel was thought-provoking, Witchblade was suspenseful, and Trackers was entertaining. They all got cancelled in their prime for bogus reasons. 9/11, an alcoholic star, and viewers not patient enough to watch Adrian Paul metamorphose from Highlander into a more upbeat character.

Those are just the ones I can think of offhand, and just the ones that are straight fantasy/SF. Shows like The Tick and God, the Devil and Bob probably appealed to a lot of you like they did to me.

I wish there was a way to resurrect programs like these. Anybody else mourn the untimely demise of their favorite TV shows?

I miss the old X-Files. Back when TSM was ambiguous, there was Black Oil and Eugene Tooms. Then Carter sank it, got rid of Duchovny, and ended it.

Well I was trying to stick with SF or fantasy shows, to stay on topic. If you want to feel really bad and talk about all the great cancelled shows, we could have a separate forum. Vengeance Unlimited, Marker, Pasadena, Keen Eddie, the Family Dog, Mighty Mouse, Daria, That's My Bush, Santa Barbara, Peacemakers. And those are just a few of the dozens that pop into my head in real time. There must be hundreds that fell prey to the Neilsen Syndrome. (Which is that Neilsen boxes are only given to people who live in trailer parks, something we learned on another great show that didn't run long enough, Duckman.)

And of course the entire MTV channel. When our cable company first brought it on the air in 1982 we watched it all night every night for three weeks. Now it's been taken over by an evil twin and the M must stand for something besides "Music" because there's hardly a note of music on it, ever.

Fraggle Rocker,

yeah, I know I got a little off topic with my two. But when Red Dwarf was mentioned, I couldn't help but think of them.

So true about mtv. So typically made in America.

They should bring back Futurama.I second that, & my 4-D portal being (saQuar) triples & exponents it by 23,400.07 into the outer realms of imaginary math

Wasn't Spawn a series on HBO or something? I loved the movies, but I think I remember seeing a series or something on one of the movie channels about 7 years ago.

was Daria Cancelled? my god.....well i guess all hope is gone. It was the only show that made me feel like i wasn't a freak in my highskool days. I'm sure heaps of other teenagers are missing out growing with Daria. A real teenage show that placed a positive image on the delicate teenage Psyche.
Hey prehaps BeastMaster can take over where Daria took off?

Disapointed

The number one best way to get shows back up is to advocate for people to buy the DVD's

The sales figures for Family guy got that show picked back up, and there is a possibility that the show will come back.

Family Guy is back ;)

Firefly. Great underated series on the Sci-Fi channel. And I'd like to see more Bab5 stuff, or something by the same writers/producers on the same storyline.

Bring back Firefly

I saw this series at a friends house and can't understand why people think it was so great. I didn't think it was very well written, poor special effects and the actors weren't very good either.

They need to bring back Futurama, Rocko's Modern Life, Dexter's Laborotory, Invader Zim, Angry Beavers, and The PPGs.
I hear that they are working on a new season of Ed Edd n Eddy, so I don't need to go into that.

ejaVu`']was Daria Cancelled? my god.....well i guess all hope is gone. It was the only show that made me feel like i wasn't a freak in my highskool days. I'm sure heaps of other teenagers are missing out growing with Daria. A real teenage show that placed a positive image on the delicate teenage Psyche.Well it wasn't quite right to call it cancelled. It ended. Daria and most of the key characters were in the same high school class and they simply graduated. Still I would have been quite happy to see her go off to college and meet a bunch of new people. The writing was good, they could have pulled it off. Her character would have worked just as well in a college setting, perhaps even better. It's difficult for an anti-social person to become so sophisticated so young. She would have been even more believable as a university student.

Nonetheless, despite all the heartaches of watching my favorite virtual friends grow up and go away, I love watching them grow. Cartoons that run in real time borrow drama from live shows and have an edge over the ones that are stuck in a time warp. I got tired of watching Bart and Lisa Simpson repeating the same grades endlessly a long time ago. Even the kids on South Park are slowly getting older and moving through school. That's okay, it doesn't have to quite be in real time.
