View Full Version : Bombs at Ikea
Here in Holland the police are investigating bombs which are in several IKEA stores around the country. In addition to that there were made bombthreaths to NAP (oilcompany) and the ANP (press). This has been going on all day near my work.
goofyfish 12-04-02, 09:40 AM CNN Reports (http://www.cnn.com/2002/WORLD/europe/12/04/dutch.bomb/index.html).
Vortexx 12-04-02, 09:50 AM I think it will turn out to be some funny (M-word) .These rebels without a cause have finally found some stupid idea to run after.....
Especially the threats against the newsagency gives a clue, as these (M-word) have gotten a lot of bad press lately.....
Yeah but why the hell ikea? What can be gained from that?
if this means i can't get my "swedish meatballs with saus" friday somebody will pay

Whatever happened to the bombing in Helsinki mall? Any news on that? I know it is old, but I haven't heard anything. Was that Al-qeda or something else?
Vortexx 12-04-02, 11:14 AM No that was just a lonely white boy with mostly internet friends to talk to, maybe he got kicked of some forum or something and this was his way of getting even with the world?
For some reasons these dudes always play Quake Deathmatches and listen to Rammstein etc... Wouldn't say that every black goth has a depressed outlook on the world, but it is more than co-incidental, look at the shootings at american schools, the shooting by that german guy....
There was a lot of fuzz about the availabillity of materials/info regarding explosives through the internet, for was reasoned: "if the materials/info were not that readily available he probably wouldn't gotten the plan to make a bomb but just throw himself for a train or something"
Vortexx 12-04-02, 11:18 AM I listen to Rammstein as well but at least I got friends
Vortexx 12-04-02, 11:32 AM Yeah but why the hell ikea? What can be gained from that?
Usama has given some kind of Fatwa to focus these months on were it really hurts hard, economic targets, like hotels, factories etc....
Not to say that that Al-quaida has organised cells every where and that this is a highly coordinated action, no in many cases some copycats picking up their guns also. Inspired by 9/11 (wich was indeed impressive for it's brilliant logistics) muslims everywhere have gotten some marcolm-x induced consciousness ("muslim-power") and feel that if you call it "jihad" it is holy and therefore good.
Vortexx 12-04-02, 11:34 AM the goal is certainly not to gain our symphaty but rather working towards A total war and unite the arab nations under a fundamentalistic flag and trie to runover israel once again.....
If millions of muslims will die as well is of no importance for they are believers and will be welcomed in paradise for their sacrifices....
Woah, I listen(ed) to Rammstein. Quit with the stereotyping!!
GB-GIL Trans-global 12-05-02, 03:41 AM Vortexx, you're a bit odd. You seem to be some sort of racist.
"Sort of". I think he's two points shy of shaving his head :D
IKEA- god helps me, how much I *HATE* those stores..
althought i would be much satisfied if my mother bought the new sofa from there, cause the new one is really oddy oldy..
:o
Vortexx 12-05-02, 05:43 AM .....Maybe some of my surpressed(?) rascist subconcious surfaces when events like this take place, i don't know, but I will try to look at it more closely.....
I do know however that I have a well established disgust for religion and I am not ashamed of that.

BTW, what's your religion as you see it, Vortexx?
Gil.
Vortexx 12-05-02, 05:57 AM Let's just say that a certain group of believers have declared a worldwide war on us non-believers or cristians and I am expected not to get pissed off by that?
If I was to write a constitution I would retain freedom of thought and religion but I would be very strict about forbidding religions that somehow promote to restrict others in their freedom and actually have documented scenarios in their holy books to spread the religion by holy war and convert or kill all non-believers.
Now Cristians have also have done a great job in the past of spreading the bible in south america with the sword (and western diseases wich killed millions indians) but at least most cristians have mellowed to a point they allow me as non-believer to peacefully co-exist with them, allthough I still think you will still find some pretty extreme Cristian groups in the usa.

I'm Jewish living in Israel. What you have to say on that?
Gil.
Vortexx 12-05-02, 06:18 AM I sure hope someone like Yitzhak Rabin will come to office again.
After his assasination by Jewish religious fundamentalists a lot of hope for peace was lost and we have witnessed events take a very bad turn.
Actually from a strategic point of view, Israel by now better keep it's palestanians inside the country, for otherwise, if all palestinians wind up in Jordan, some arab religious nutters would feel no hessitation at all throwing nuclear/chemical weapons at tel aviv with no muslimbrothers there....

Oh, it's so easy for me to see your poor idea about the politics in the Middle East.
Yes, there is good and there's evil.
Evil has no goals but destruction.
But what does it have to do with consumer goods of fashion??
Vortexx 12-05-02, 07:07 AM thor you mean shaved head like?
http://www.geocities.com/ResearchTriangle/Forum/6370/travis3.jpg
Vortexx 12-05-02, 08:34 AM I can not really look inside the mind of the twisted individuals, but from what i have gathered, my following poor ideas have developed:
....Maybe they dislike western companies, like the oil company for being sponsors to their repressive governments at home?
And Ikea, well..... Maybe they don't like the fact that females are allowed to shop there without wearing a Burka... who Knows???
Bebelina 12-05-02, 08:55 AM This is not good. What would they have against IKEA? I was just about to order some furniture from them...
Maybe it's just some pissed off customer that still haven't been able to put together the swingchair they bough last christmas. :D
thor you mean shaved head like?
Neo-Nazi's, I mean like, duh!!
Vortexx 12-05-02, 03:12 PM That's the funny thing about stereotypes , often you will find some truth in it!
If I was to shave my head and listen to OI music it wouldn't automatically turn me into a neo-nazi, but surely a lot of people would think so and there would indeed be a significant change that these people were right!!!
People like to express their ideas, identity and groupmemberships by their choice of music and dressing. For instance I find noticably much "Tool" fans overhere. More than on some other forums which could be made into the stereotype that a lot of Tool fans are intellectual bright white middle class kids with broadband internet access and with a healthy dose "Rage against the Machine" before they settle and become a part of the machine itself. Alternatively , if people see me walking in my flashy expensive clubclothes enjoying some Tom Harding hardhouse track, people might stereotype me as being part of the not too smart e-tarded crowd mainly interested in hedonism .
I tell you what, that would actually be a good description!!!
There are far more superior braniacs here on sciforum than I could ever hope to be , but compared to Bush jr. I still feel blessed.
My political involvement mainly stems for the recent events threaten my hedonistic lifestyle!
goofyfish 12-05-02, 03:27 PM Ahhh... a breath of bald honesty. How refreshing! ;)
Guess someone couldn't tell that someone was joking :D

Well, thats kinda me, except Tool nor RATM are my kinds of band
