View Full Version : Body Temp Low?
Alex4.0 11-14-07, 06:01 PM I have recently developed a oddly low temperature, it was 94 this morning,
and when I got to school I went to the nurse just to make sure it wasn't my thermometer, my normal is around 98.9. And it has been this way for a couple weeks, I don't feel sick..its just bugging me...
Maybe you didn't jam it in far enough ? ;)
Alex4.0 11-14-07, 06:06 PM No I stuck it right under my tongue, and avoid breathing through my mouth..
I don't want to go to the doctor, they are almost as bad as dentists..*Shiver*
I have lower than average temp too, as far as I know for all my life. No big deal I think.
Always had 97.
Just a thought, maybe you should stick in your backside next time. You get a more reliable measurement that way.
Alex4.0 11-14-07, 06:16 PM I'll use the oral thermometer *Evil laugh* (Kidding)
Exhumed 11-15-07, 07:34 PM I think if it has been 94 for a few weeks it IS a concern. I can't recall for certain though, but I think that is very irregular. Hopefully someone else can give a better answer.
Nikelodeon 11-16-07, 02:28 PM You may have a digestion problem.

Its not cold here! Well I'm not yet, and until I go into shock, I'm not going to
the evil doc.
Carcano 11-17-07, 04:50 PM You may have low blood pressure as well.
Do you have cold extremities also...hands and feet?
visceral_instinct 11-17-07, 06:30 PM Does it matter, seeing as you're not sick?

No, it hasn't been bellow freezing here yet. Actually an Iris just bloomed yesterday. I named it the Retard Plant, cause its only suppose to bloom in spring, not fall.
Carcano 11-18-07, 01:54 PM Everyones body temp is slightly lower than average when they first wake up in the morning.
Take your temp at mid-day...and have your blood pressure checked. There may be a correlation.

Yeah, that's what I had. I also got dizzy a lot when sitting up suddenly. My Dr told me to eat more salt. ????

I think it usually has to do with something called 'adrenal fatigue'...meaning your adrenal glands are not producing enough hormones to keep the blood pressure at normal levels.
A test is taken in which the subject has his pressure taken while lying down, and then stands up suddenly and is checked again.
If there is a suddenly drop in pressure between lying down and standing...it could be an adrenal problem.
my temperatures always lower than normal and it drops even more when im tired i get soooo cold when im tired brrr
i heard that sum people even though there sick their temperature is low and cause doctors to make the wrong advice

adrenal? Not thyroid?
And why would more salt help?

Thyroid hormones only control your metabolism.
Adrenal hormones do a whole bunch of other things.
Sodium constricts blood vessels...thereby raising blood pressure. But your right, this doesnt address the root of the problem.
Alex4.0 11-18-07, 04:17 PM Low blood pressure...I'm 15! Thats for old people. (No offense.)
But I do get dizzy when I stand suddenly, but my mom laughs and says its normal for someone my height.
Carcano 11-18-07, 05:48 PM Low blood pressure...I'm 15! Thats for old people. Nah...HIGH blood pressure is an 'old people' condition, which is caused primarily by narrowing arteries.

Blood pressure problems can occur at any age and could be caused by many reasons.
If your body temperature is lower than normal and you are suffering from other problems such as dizziness when you stand up quickly, etc, then the only thing you should be doing is going to see a doctor. It is not "normal" for anyone, regardless of how tall they might be.
Lucysnow 11-27-07, 09:42 AM Do you engage in regular exercise? I ask this because my blood pressure is generally low and when I ge it checked I'm often asked if I work out and then they say this is the reason.
As for low body temperature you could be fighting a mild infection and your body is having trouble dealing with it. Its happened to me. What I usually do is take a sauna or cause my body temp to rise and create a fever to boost my system. Fever's are a sign that your body is fighting something and a low temp can sometimes mean that its having trouble doing this.
nietzschefan 11-27-07, 10:02 AM You really need to get a blood test(DOCTOR!). You sure sound hypothyriod. I had the same stuff before I took synthroid. At least it took away the dizzy spells(yes standing up fast - at least I don't get that anymore), and low body temp(though I still get cold hands and feet).
