OK, 2nd question. Since I want to use the internet with the laptop via the cellphone, I don't really need bluetooth, a cable works too, but I do need special software. Correct?

But moneywise, I might just get a cheap bluetooth donge instead of messing with the cable and the software...

Well, we hooked it up with the cable, but Verizon wants you to have a different plan (whatever you call it, I forgot). But it should work with the existing plan, after all if there is internet already on the phone, I should be able to see it on the laptop too...

Not necessarily because the laptop requires its own receiver plan separate from your cell phone plan, that will be an extra charge.

Nope, the laptop just need the internet data, it doesn't need any receiver plan.

What is a receiver plan anyway???

I had to buy a special device that plugged into my laptop which caught the signal that I was paying for. The plan I had was only for cell phone but I asked about adding the laptop I was advised I needed to buy more a coverage plan to add the laptop. I never did because I thought that was paying to much for both the cell and laptop as two seperate bills.

OK, so what is that special device and where to get it? I am in the same shoe.

Verizon wants me to pay $20 extra per month for being able to broadcast the phones' internet signal. The best part is that the phone has unlimited internet, but the plan would give me only 2 G per month.

I don't see why I should pay extra for something that doesn't use the network only my phone what is already paid for. So I am looking for a free solution, teethering I guess. I am getting the bluetooth dongle in a few days, but I don't think it would work without a workaround of the Verizon system.
I think I have to download a program or something....

Edit: I think I got the hack, how to do it:

I still need to pay $29 one time price for PDAnet, but that is it....

Update: I got the BT dongle, installed it (had to download the driver, the one on the disc didn't work) and I was able to use the net via the phone for a few minutes. But after that it died and I wasn't able to establish a working connection. That brings up 2 questions:

    1. Why was I able to circumvent Verizon's plan this easily with a simply BT device?
    2. Why did it work only for a few minutes???
