...as an Independent, and spending a billion dollars to try and win (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070518/us_nm/usa_politics_bloomberg_dc)

I don't love Bloomberg, but he's a better choice than Hillary or Rudy in my mind, and I'd LOVE to see an Independent President.
Bernie Sanders isn't going to run, unfortunately - I might just vote for Mike.

Yeah, he's shown a lot of leadership in NY...

Sarcasm, Counte? Explain.

Definitely sarcasm, as I can't say I really enjoy bans on smoking and trans fat, no work on the WTC site and the reinstatement of the very things Rudy excised from the city.

My assessment: Bloomberg is a blathering, rich billionaire with no connection to reality and no political leadership skills.

Eh... Ohio just banned smoking in pretty much every part of the state, except on private property where no one is employed... but that was an ammendment to the state constitution voted on (and passed by a VAST majority of) the public. I never heard about the transfat thing. I'm itching for a presidential cantidate who's not into pushing God, "gays are evil", prayer in school, banning abortion, but who DOES happen to have a set of balls on the international stage.

Bloomberg has balls, I just think they've retracted into his abdomen...

He didn't ban trans fat.
He barred restaraunts in NYC from using oils that are high in trans fats for deep frying - why is that such a horrible thing?
There are other, healthier, no more expensive oils that can be used.
"Oh no my freedoms!"

Like what?

It is about freedoms. I happen to care about them, and I think people should be able to put into their bodies whatever the hell they want, so long as they don't come round later and ask other people to clean up their messes. If I like fatty fries or cigarettes, that's my business. Not some health-nut mayor's.

And he didn't take away your freedom to put whatever you want in your body.
Drink trans fats by the gallon if you want - there is no law against it.

What are the things that Rudy excised that he reinstated?
