2983 Americans killed in Iraq
57600 drops of blood per average adult person.

Around 22,000 wounded in Iraq
Figure a pint each, 5760 drops per pint.

Total: 300 million drops of American blood spilled. Incidentally, one drop for every U.S. citizen. Note to self - if they can shed a drop for me, the least I can do is give a pint for them. I'm off to the blood drive tomorrow.

Proven Iraqi oil reserves: 112.5 billion barrels

So... 375 barrels per drop of American blood.

At $60 a barrel, that's $22,500 a drop. Helluva deal!

Of course, if you throw in the Iraqi blood, that drops the value quite a bit.

Either you swear off using anything and everything ever derived from oil or its distillates for all time or you're just so ignorable.

Where's all that oil that is so much talked about? Is there even a drop of oil in US hands?

Not yet, but we gotta keep investing that blood - we're bound to get a return on the investment eventually.

A grown up has about 5 liters of blood = 5000 ml
1 ml is 20 drops ( good to know when you adjust your IV fluid at the hospital , 50 microliter in one drop)
So a grown up has 100000 drops of blood ....

:m:

Anyway the Iraq war is not only about oil .....

Ooooh - thanks for the correction! So my figures were only 50% of the real value! So, if the Iraq war is not only about oil, maybe it's half about oil, so I guess my numbers can still more or less stand. The other half of the blood can be said to have been shed for political dominance in south Asia, to support Israel, and to promote corporate interests in general.

In his second inaugural address, Lincoln said

...if God wills that it continue until all the wealth piled by the bondsman's two hundred and fifty years of unrequited toil shall be sunk, and until every drop of blood drawn with the lash shall be paid by another drawn with the sword...

I guess we're still paying.

I'm afraid we're just beginning to pay.

But what have we gotten in oil spoils?

Exports of crude, which had run at an average of about 1.6 million barrels per day (mbpd) since the end of the 2003 war, dropped to 1.2 mbpd in November and 1.1 mbpd in December -Assem Jihad (http://english.aljazeera.net/news/archive/archive?ArchiveId=17491)

How much Iraqi oil can Americans expect to traffic after our inevitable troop withdrawal (what a kick in the ass!)? None.

Blood-for-oil exchange rates and blood-for-oil futures are not looking favorable.

Maybe it was rather oil for blood, at the oil for food scandal?
