During his presidency, Bill Clinton wrestled with some pretty hairy situations. Now a plan is in the works to get Slick Willie into the ring on a full-time basis -- as a pro wrestler!

A major national wrestling promoter has approached Weekly World News with a proposition for Clinton, offering the former president a lucrative contract to begin laying the smack-down in the wrestling ring as “President Pain.”

“We’d love to add Clinton to our stable of superstars,” says a representative of a top pro- wrestling organization. “We think he’d have a big future in wrestling. Even if you’re a Republican, you’re going to watch the matches, just to see the guy hopefully get his clock cleaned.”

After unsuccessfully trying to reach Clinton’s office, the promoter contacted WWN to issue a public challenge to the former leader of the free world.

So here it is: Do you have what it takes, Bill Clinton? Are you man enough to step forward and take on wrestlers as powerful as The Rock?

The notion of an American president engaging in a wrestling match might seem strange to some, but there is a historical precedent. “Many of our greatest presidents have an accomplished background in wrestling,” says historian Pemberton Thorndyke. “Andrew Jackson, Ulysses S. Grant and Teddy Roosevelt were all grapplers. George Washington defeated seven consecutive challengers from the Massachusetts Volunteers at the age of 47. Abraham Lincoln was an outstanding wrestler. He only lost one match.”

Not everyone is enthused about Clinton’s potential new career, however. “Clinton’s old and out of shape,” protests one current wrestling superstar. “He has no athletic background, and he’s spent most of his life sitting behind a desk choking down Big Macs. If he gets into the ring with me, the bottom line is I’ll veto his chances of getting out of there in one piece.”

Can Clinton possibly survive, and even flourish, in the rough-and-tumble world of pro wrestling? The promoter feels the ex-prez is a natural.
