View Full Version : Between Iraq and a hard place. outlandish 11-25-06, 04:03 PM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=by43joQLYj8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ipa8DuKyN6I S.A.M. 11-25-06, 04:17 PM It's a strange world when only comedians can present the news with any accuracy. Good video on Iraq history. outlandish 11-25-06, 04:22 PM are you aware of rory bremner? very astute guy. S.A.M. 11-25-06, 04:23 PM are you aware of rory bremner? very astute guy. I wasn't before but I'll look out for him from now on. S.A.M. 11-25-06, 04:52 PM Here is one more: Beyond Iraq and a hard place: outlandish 11-25-06, 04:55 PM yep that's one of the johns from bremner, bird and fortune: http://www.channel4.com/news/2004/01/week_4/29_bremnerbirdfortune.html I always get confused as to which is john bird and which is john fortune. very funny though. Prince_James 11-25-06, 08:29 PM Jon Stewart? Accurate? Jon Stewart is a comedian - and not a very funny one at that. The Daily Show is riddled with inaccuracies and out of context nonsense. It is also admittedly bias. S.A.M. 11-25-06, 08:30 PM Jon Stewart? Accurate? Jon Stewart is a comedian - and not a very funny one at that. The Daily Show is riddled with inaccuracies and out of context nonsense. It is also admittedly bias. Not Jon Stewart. Redefine91 11-25-06, 09:03 PM I think the show is biased but still extremely funny funny. It's also very very good at showing how ridiculous politicians can be. Some of those interviews are the greatest. Redefine91 11-25-06, 09:05 PM Plus we know have the colbert report right after. I consider him funnier than Jon Stewart. Syzygys 11-25-06, 09:07 PM Jon Stewart? Accurate? Jon Stewart is a comedian - and not a very funny one at that. The Daily Show is riddled with inaccuracies and out of context nonsense. It is also admittedly bias. Well, let me see: His show won the Emmy Award 9 times (repeat, nine), so I guess he is not that funny. He is actually hillarious. Inaccuracies?? You are a moron. The Daily Show is a parody of the news shows, thus it is not supposed to be accurate!!!! Bias? That should be the biggest sin they commit. By the way all comedians should be anti-power... Also how can he be not biased, when until now all 3 (presidency, house, congress) were in the hands of the Reps??? It was no fun to kick the Dems, they were already down. Nevertheless they still did it when the Dems gave material... Yeah, he is so not funny and influental that his show has a spinoff, the Colbert Report, and now Fow News is trying to come up with a similar show on their own, from of course with a right angle...Not to mention he did the Oscars too... S.A.M. 11-25-06, 09:52 PM From the responses I guess no one is acually watching the videos. Redefine91 11-25-06, 09:53 PM I watched it :D I supported going there and I still found it to be hilarious. outlandish 11-26-06, 01:11 PM I watched it :D I still found it to be hilarious. because you have the privelidge of sitting under the blanket of freedom which is a something you have the luxury to take for granted. I'm sure them eyerackees don't share your "humourous" view of their country. but what the heck, thems just arabs right? Baron Max 11-26-06, 01:19 PM because you have the privelidge of sitting under the blanket of freedom which is a something you have the luxury to take for granted. Oh, I don't know ....the Iraqis seem to have plenty of freedom to blow each other up and execute each other. If that ain't freedom, what the hell do you think it is? ...a garden of roses? Just to give you some perspective on freedom ....there are more Americans killed by murder and violent assault than there are Iraqis killed in the war. Makes ya' wonder some about freedom and war, huh? Baron Max Is this a fact?:bugeye: Baron Max 11-26-06, 01:32 PM Is this a fact?:bugeye: I believe that it's true, Sam ...but I don't have the figures or a link to know for sure. But if it's not true, it's not too damned far off! And if you include such things as drug overdoses, gun accidents and drunk-driving deaths, then....? You're good at such 'Net searches, it might be interesting for you to search it out for me ....I ain't no good at it. Baron Max This is what I found: In 2004, a total of 2,397,615 deaths occurred in the United States. Wow. And: The 15 leading causes of death in 2004 (Table 2) were: Diseases of heart (heart disease); Malignant neoplasms (cancer); Cerebrovascular diseases (stroke); Chronic lower respiratory diseases; Accidents (unintentional injuries); Diabetes mellitus; Alzheimer’s disease; Influenza and pneumonia; Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome and nephrosis (kidney disease); Septicemia; Intentional self-harm (suicide); Chronic liver disease and cirrhosis; Essential (primary) hypertension and hypertensive renal disease (hypertension); Parkinson’s disease; and Assault (homicide) http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/products/pubs/pubd/hestats/finaldeaths04/finaldeaths04_tables.pdf#2 The good news: Life expectancy at birth for the U.S. population in 2004 reached a record high of 77.8 years http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/products/pubs/pubd/hestats/finaldeaths04/finaldeaths04.htm Syzygys 11-26-06, 04:09 PM From the responses I guess no one is acually watching the videos. I watched 2.5 so far. I advise to watch it on video.google, much better quality, although the 3rd part doesn't exist there, yet. The film is much better than Fahrenheit 911...This movie will not be shown in the US... Baron Max 11-26-06, 08:49 PM Wouldn't matter even if it were shown, people tend to have a short memory for other people's problems. And yet people still think that humans are compassionate and caring! And people will still make that claim for themselves ....while they go out on the town drinking fine wine and eating fine food and laughing and have a grand ol' time on the town. Ain't humans a very, VERY strange animal? Baron Max |
