There was that one about Timothy Speed Levitch. Cant remember what it was called. In fact, I haven't even seen it (but want to badly.)

    Heard it was amazing.

i don't remember names on any, but a few which stand out are a documentary on the programme to build the sr-71 and x-15 planes. apart from that many doc's on deep sea creatures-- these are just fascinating. and ofcourse a documentary i saw on the giant squid.

    It's not exactly a documentary.
It is a movie based on (and using verbatim) conversations that a theater company had while researching the Matthew Shepard (sp?) story to write a play about it.

It is called "The Laramie Project" and I highly reccommend it.

The "Space" series from the BBC is outstanding. That's impressive since I usually can only stand British TV for about 5 mins at a time.

Also enjoying Hitler: Rise of Evil, Baraka, and every single National Geographic/The Nature of Things/Psychology 101 I've ever seen.

Included all IMAX docs I've seen as well (Space Station, The Human Body, etc)

    Also Jane Goodall's biography.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Woodstock and Spinal Tap documentaries.

    Cinemania!

I totally forgot about Cinemania. It is about people who go to 4 or 5 or 6 or 10 movies a day... everyday. If you get a chance to see it take a peek. It's just funny at first, but there really is something wrong with the people in the film.

Also, here are a couple of computer ones that were interesting at least:
    Freedom Downtime
    Startup.com
    e-dreams

There was this one documentary I saw in high school about alien hand syndrome. It had this one lady telling of this one night where her hand starting choking her and she grabed it with the other hand and was having a battle to loosen the grip. Its a real condition that affects people that have their two hemispheres disconneted.

I've seen so many its not funny. I've forgotten most of them.
Above all, anything David Attenborough is involved with is usually top notch, especially the ones he has written himself. Nobody on this planet knows more about the life on this planet than he does.
My favourite attenborough documentary and documentary period would probably be "the trials of life, A natural history of animal behaviour ".

    Other great nature documentaries;
    The life of mammals
    Life in the freezer
    the blue planet series
    the ultimate guide series
    built for the kill series
    grizzly
    wolves of the sea
    the life of birds
the secret life of plants(I know, plants? But it was really interesting)
    Cousins(the natural history of primates)
    chimpanzee diaries
    Sensitive sharks
The vampire birds of the galapogos islands
    BBC's Evolution series
Killers in the sea(Great white/killer whale fight, YAY!!!)

    and oh so many more

    non nature documentaries;
    agreed on BBC's universe series
The chicken ranch(it was about a whore house, but it was really good)
    Worshipping the skies(egyptians)
UFO: best evidence ever caught on tape
Rosswell(not that bogus autopsy, interviews with people involved etc)
Crimes and trials of the 20th century series
    Secret KGB files series
    the diary of anne frank
50 years on the air(david attenborough)
    the color of war series

I can't remember all the names, I like documentaries about, ancient egypt, ancient greece, ancient rome, communist russia, cryptozoology, ufo's, crime, the mafia, freaks

(oddities and sideshows), space, dogs(history etc), us government conspiracy(cia, fbi, mj12 etc) but most of all animals and nature.
Documentaries are AWESOME. I'll watch just about any documentary.

The best documentaries are those from Globe Trekker ! The travelers are very friendly and we can learn lots of stuff on a country (as globetrotters).
