Mrs Bhutto was either brave or foolhardy
    in her open campaigning.
Her death, though a shock, is no surprise.
What is the future now for Pakistan?

The same as it was. Terrorists live there and carry on with their trade.

No danger of any democracy now. Musharraf can continue without hindrance. Whew.

Many of her supporters are extremely anti-west, but she was not anti-west herself. She was a moderating force. I wish she'd taken better care of herself.

She was bound to be killed. She won both the elections she stood for and had her own ideas about how to run the country. A dangerous woman in a country beset by dictators and coups (4 coups at the last count).

Sad news, but it always makes me wonder why Benazir didn't remain in England, especially with the ongoing death threats.

Umm because she was a politician and wanted to lead her country?

    Hello.
You mentioned that you always wondered why...etc.
and SAM pointed out the very likely reasons why.
Obviously it was important enough to her to take the risks she did.
That it 'did not work out well for her' does not make SAM's answer incorrect or even mean that Bhutto's choice was wrong.

Glad to see its not a hate threat... the media portrayed Bhutto as a champion of democracy... whether or not she would have been , we'll never know.
Meanwhile, If this was the terrorists only objective Musharraf will remain in power.. If not, Anarchy in a nuclear nation..
