Geroge W’s parents have mentioned on numerous occasions that they are upset at the criticism aimed at junior. Why is that? I find that quite amazing. I have a son and if folks are critical of him hopefully he will learn from the experience as I have. Criticism is not a bad thing, it is a way to learn and grow. So I am perplexed with the Bush senior’s responses. Is it that they because their class put them above criticism? Inter-class criticism is not permitted. Is it because the Bushes are perfection incarnate and cannot be improved therefore any criticism is wasted and not useful? What am I missing?

It would be naïve of them to take that tact (and they aren't naïve, especially after 40 years of politics--I suspect they are being just as partisan in their passive-aggressive "Oh, the Dems have sunk to a new low..." tactic).

I think the senior Bushes are taking it personally. After all, people tend to think of GW as a complete clusterdiddle, and that reflects on Poppy and Barb's parenting skills. Wasn't Neil embarrassed in the S&L scandal? And Jeb, as governor, got ripped over the Schiavo debacle among other things. Thanks to GW, on January 20, 2009, all jokes about Jimmy Carter being the worst president ever will cease.

In a way I feel for the senior Bushes. They didn't get up every day thinking, "What can we do to make our kids even more worthy of ridicule?" In their own way, they love their children, and in their own way, they did their best. If we limit ourselves to the Keating S&L scandal, they're running on twenty years of public embarrassment by their children. If we go by GW himself ... it's been a long, long trail a-winding, and there's always "just a mile or two" to go.

Because now the Bush-clan will be despised for half a generation. Pretty much the remainder of their pathetic lives. Hated by the very people who make up the Republic - could there be anything worse?

They must resent it, seeking adoration they instead found dead crow. Yum Yum.

They'll move to Dubai soon after Junior in impeached.
