View Full Version : Be An Educator
original 06-11-07, 10:14 PM If you had the resources available to you, how would you direct a school? Who would it be directed to, and what would be your educational focus?
I would exchange generous salaries for patient teachers. The typical hours a teacher would work at the school would be weekdays from 9:30am to 5:30pm. Students would attend from 9:00am to 3:00pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, every month of the year with the exception of the last two weeks in December and the first two weeks in July. The primary focus would be on how things work, and applying these lessons to real world examples. There would be a list of subjects students should study and be required to demonstrate knowledge of the concept, with help available from the instructor at any time. The subjects would include physical health, communication, mathematics, physical science, biology, geology, and mechanics, as a rough example.
I might be able to post an image of what the building would like if I could design it.

Are the people running schools deliberately avoiding use of the internet as it could be used?

I'd do away with organized schools. I'd make women who had the children teach the children. I would say something stupid about equal rights, but I think women are simply better teachers. The fathers could teach the kids things like killing, rape, assault, and fun things like that to the boys. But I'd pay them to do it, and there'd be no tests or evaluation of skils. If the mothers wanted to teach their kids to be murderin', robbing, vicious killers, then so be it.
It's the parents responsiblity. If they fuck and have a kid, then that kid is their responsibility ...period.

Teachers would have greater authority than they currently do. The kids would actually have consequences to face for fucking around.
The subjects would remain roughly the same as they are now - maybe a few different languages. All curriculum would be changed regularly to be up to date and something that the kids could relate to.
Creativity and ingenuity would be positively encouraged and rewarded. Possibly monetary or material prizes being given. We shouldn't stifle creativity in the way we do now.
It's a tricky business, and I don't know the half of it, but there's roughly what I'd aim for.

You'd not allow parents any authority in educating their OWN children???

I think I'd take your stance and tell them to deal with it if they didn't like it.
Maybe a little authority, but anyone who has any religious needs can find them at a specialist school I'm afraid. Outside of reasonable, normal, common-sense type sensitivity/expected behaviour, of course.
We wouldn't be force-feeding muslims pork, let's put it that way.

Do away with organization indeed! It even sounds scatterbrained! You would make mothers teach their children, say something stupid about equal rights, and think that women are better teachers. Fathers teaching their children how to kill, rape, assault, and do other fun things is more than acceptable... you would actually pay them to do it?
