View Full Version : Baths/Showers Per week
alexb123 11-13-06, 07:50 AM I was just reading another forum that had asked Baths/Showers per week. Almost everyone there claimed to have a shower or bath everyday. And to my surprise a large amount claims to shower twice a day. It was a UK forum so we don't need them to cool down esp this time of year.
How many baths/showers do you have a day (also give your climate). Please be tottaly honest.
Bath about once a week,
shower each morning, sometimes also in the evening, as a relaxation measure.
In cold winters (-30 C or so) it's 3 or 4 times a day.
phonetic 11-13-06, 08:15 AM Recently I've been pretty lax about it all and last week went 3 days without a shower. Mainly due to waking up a couple of minutes before I need to leave the house. It's winter anyway, not as if anyone notices. A friend's heating was broken which meant no hot water. He told me he hadn't had a shower for 5 days and I hadn't noticed. So, I don't think I offended anyone :)
I try to have a shower every day though. Twice a day would be better still. When I'm abroad, somewhere hot, I have 3 or 4 showers a day, just because I can.
vslayer 11-13-06, 09:02 AM i dont have time to shower most of the time. i only do it on my days off, so that means 11 days without showering.
Prince_James 11-13-06, 09:02 AM I take a bath a year. In a cold river. My mother made me, if I needed it or not!
domesticated om 11-13-06, 09:34 AM I take 11 showers a week.
I take 1 shower every morning (7)
I go jogging at night 4 times a week, and take showers afterwards on those nights.
Lord Hillyer 11-13-06, 09:57 AM A shower on six days, and a bath on the seventh.
tablariddim 11-13-06, 09:58 AM Meditteranean climate: Summer, 2 showers daily. Winter 3-4 times a week unless I'm working out, in which case add more showers.
I shower about 5 days a week.
thedevilsreject 11-13-06, 10:54 AM i take a bath every other day
s0meguy 11-13-06, 11:37 AM is there a point to this thread?
alexb123 11-13-06, 11:56 AM is there a point to this thread?
Yes it to see if people can honest or if most people will give the same answers for fear of being diff.
Also water consumption is and will be one of the worlds greatest problems.
Also are we too hygenic these days? This can be bad for your health!
Was there any point in you asking? Maybe think wider than the question!

Think wider than the question? I can only work with the information that is given to me, I can't read your mind to tell the purpose of this thread. For all I know you were comparing the results in this thread to the behaviours of monkeys.
Anyhow, don't we already know that humen do this crap? I don't really agree with it being a fear, but rather it is automated behaviour that has evolved out of the fear of being excluded from the group...
By the way, I think it's pretty normal that people shower every day and most people that have said that they shower every day probably don't say it out of fear. I don't think that our fear-of-being-excluded-mechanism applies as much on the internet, where most people don't know eachother anyway.
The fear probably mostly applies on real life (no internet). The fear evolved from the fact that we are afraid of letting other people have bad opinions of us, because it compromises the chances with the ladies/men in the social circle who are naturally attracted to the social status (compromised by bad opinion) of the opposite gender because it ensures survival and protection. So the ones without the fear don't get to fuck and make offspring (because of bad social status), therefore increasing the chance that the kids get the fear too through either or both nurture and nature. In theory. Feel free to correct me.
So whats the point? Do you think or did you think that people should be ashamed of having such a mechanism?

G. F. Schleebenhorst 11-13-06, 01:16 PM I only shower when I need to.
If I'm leaving the house that day (I'm currently unemployed) I will have a shower, if I have something important I will have one of those showers where the whole room gets wet, otherwise I don't really see the point.
If I had a job I'd have a quick shower every morning like I used to. If I had a chick I'd make sure everything was ultra clean every day.

good grief, the howard hughes of SF strikes again, if its not vit B12 jabs, it's hydrophobia.
no, one can never be too hygenic, unless you're a tramp or a student.

I love a hot shower to warm up!
I shower everyday 15 mins. Though I can easily spend 30-40 mins in there, so relaxing after work.
G. F. Schleebenhorst 11-13-06, 01:25 PM unemployed and single.
nice.
Yeah, I should be suicidal or something....but it's actually not bad. Do you think someone who chooses not to bother with relationships is lame? I think it's rather pathetic to assume that everyone has to be in a relationship 100% of the time. If you are in a relationship, what do you really get out of it other than bragging rights and something temporary that feels nice? I mean, what do you put into that relationship in time and stress and pissing about pretending you give a shit about someone's day, taking them out to dinner and paying for all their crap, when, after you strip away all the bullshit, all you get out of it is a bit of warm squidgy action here and there? I mean is what you get out more than what you have to put in?

not unless it turns you overly cynical and jaded.
I think it's rather pathetic to assume that everyone has to be in a relationship 100% of the time
indeed.
If you are in a relationship, what do you really get out of it other than bragging rights and something temporary that feels nice?
so do you think you will never have a permanent rel? or do you not want a perm rel?

wow, you have been hurt.
now I'm not sure whether it's been a series of unsuccessful rels, or maybe one particular one that went nasty.
I'm guessing the latter?
G. F. Schleebenhorst 11-13-06, 01:39 PM When you are a young man (which I am assuming you are) you don't think about the actual benefits of having a relationship with a woman unless you are some sort of cynical realist like myself. Can you tell me what those might be?
sderenzi 11-13-06, 01:45 PM I wonder how many times ToR showers every week ;-) Muhahaha!
Anyways I usually shower 1 time in the morning, then if I'm in a particularly bad mood I'll take one after getting home for the night.
I really, really, would luV to take a shower with ToR LOL
baumgarten 11-13-06, 01:48 PM Sounds like a cold shower would do you better.
I take one shower every morning.

what the benefits are?
well that's a deeply philosophical question. if one goes into a relationship with some sort of view to gain benefits within a quantitaive context then he will fail.
but the question of "what are the benefits of being in a relationship" to me is akin to the age old quesiton "what is the meaning of life"
you see I'm like you in a sense that I'm a cynical realist, but I'm also an idealist, and pragmatist and a romantic.
seems to me that on the surface your stance is cynical: "oh relationships, whats the point, they're all a waste of time" etc etc, but I think you don't feel this way as a matter of belief on an ideological level, but rather (as I suspect) you've been stung, but I do not know anything about your life, hence am unable to comment authoratatively.
whitewolf 11-13-06, 02:29 PM two showers a day at least, up to four or five in the summer. i don't use deodorant, so i rely on water. i don't take baths, i can't stand heat.

That's not true. There's one thing you can get out of a relationship, unlike the rest, which will certainly matter 1000 years from now.
Fraggle Rocker 11-13-06, 04:26 PM When I lived in Los Angeles, in the summertime when it's impossible to avoid getting all sweated up just during the time it takes for the A/C in your car to work, I took a shower every day. If I exercised in the middle of the day I'd take another one. In a cooler climate or a cooler season, I shower after a workout or a minimum of four times a week. I almost never take a sit-down bath and I don't know many Americans who do. Building codes require every house and apartment in America to have a tub in at least one of its "bathrooms," but if you're renting a room or a studio or a basement flat in someone else's home, you may very well only have a shower in your own quarters.
outlandish 11-13-06, 05:17 PM That's not true. There's one thing you can get out of a relationship, unlike the rest, which will certainly matter 1000 years from now.
well yes, if we're talking within the physical context then offspring would count. But I get the impression your questioning the benefits of a relationship was more on philosophical level.
I may be wrong.
Shower in the morning when I wake up and at night before going to bed. If it's hot, I'll sometimes have a couple during the day as well, usually to rinse the salt water off after having gone for a swim. Like some need a cup of coffee to be human in the morning, I need a shower to wake myself up and I need a shower to relax at night to help me get to sleep. Just meh.. kind of routine and not something I ever really think about... *shrugs*..
Hate baths. The whole notion of sitting and stagnating in warm dirty soapy water and then just getting out and drying off as though I'm somehow meant to be 'clean' kind of doesn't sit well with me. If I do have a bath, I usually take a shower afterwards.
I honestly don't know anyone who doesn't shower at least once a day. It's kind of normal to in my part of the world especially since it's usually quite warm and humid for the better part of the year.

...i'm not gonna say anything about yummy mummies or MILFS
off to take a cold shower.
Once a day for me, after work. In the coldest of winter days I may skip one day because of ultra dry skin and in the hottest days of summer I have at least 2 showers a day.
I never take baths.
Smelling is beautifull, nothing wrong with it. I shower once a week and wear the same leather pants all the time..who gives a crap?
riku_124 11-13-06, 06:38 PM iu sally try to take a shower every other day, sometimes its 2-3 days, other times i take a shower every day. It just depends on how much time i have.
lixluke 11-13-06, 08:09 PM I voted to bathe twice. It's important to bathe in the morning after exercise. And also at night after exercise.
Early morning shower to wake up, if I've had a really late night, I take a cool shower (not a cold one!) to wake up fully. A hot shower just before sleeping, makes me feel really cosy and relaxed. On weekends I do a sugar scrub. I never have a sit down bath though, I hate sitting in dirty water. A shower everytime I exercise an average of about 3 times a week.
No time: as needed. Never more than once a day in civilization, i.e., if I have to go to work, school or interact with people in town.
If I'm out researching or camping in the wilderness, I might go one or even two weeks without a shower, unless there is a stream nearby. Else just have to sponge bath here-and-there and keep my paws clean.
Ganymede 11-13-06, 09:59 PM I only shower when I need to.

WHAT! You only shower when you need to? And you're unemployed? Obviously you don't have a girlfriend. So let me get this straight. You only shower occassionaly, don't have a job, and you don't see the point of bathing. And you have the audacity to call Africans stupid and lazy? You're pathetic... You fail at life!
G. F. Schleebenhorst 11-13-06, 10:10 PM LOL, someone has a vendetta. How touching.
Ugh.. again, the poll is messed up. I shower 5 days a week. How do I answer? every two days or once a day? On days I shower, I do it once during the day.

Ghost_007 11-14-06, 12:07 PM Not really into having showers early in the morning or just before sleeping. I always bathe on Fridays before going to Mosque, I do everything on Fridays, I use a scrub, shave, wash my hair really carefully, shave my pubic and armpit hair. I bathe on Saturdays, Sundays and sometimes Thursdays. Showers are random, take them whenever. After playing football I’m in the shower for aaaaaagggggeees, I take cold showers too, they feel good! :D Apart from Fridays, I never have a shower or bath just before leaving my house. (only do that in the summer - which is only a few months here)

Lol, when I first started doing it I used to take my time but now I can shave them in a few minutes, I do it quickly and firmly. Thing is I keep cutting myself in the same place, I feel a slight tingle and then the blood starts dripping. Now its like I haven’t had a proper shave unless my balls have been bleeding.
Try Bic disposable razors. ;)

Try lady shavers. They have the added bonus of supposedly preventing cuts. Plus they have this little mesh over the razor blades to prevent any skin from getting caught in it or something like that.
Although I do know in Australia they have a hair removal product (covering wax, depilatory cream, after wax cream, ingrown hair cream, etc) range called, funnily enough, "Nads".. (http://www.waxingshop.com/acatalog/Nads.html) That's right.. hair removal products named after 'goolies'..
I will stop myself from making any further crass comments.;) However I'm sure the irony will be quite obvious to all..:p
