How do you know someone has been banned? Is there a list?

How do you distinguish hat from one of my "oops I forgot that SF existed" spells?

There should be a list somewhere!

...ok, lemme try and get a damn post to stick on this thread....

1) is there a banned list?
2) if one is banned, is there some type of formal notification?
3) is the membership of a banned person nullified? I mean if that person tries to post will their message be blocked or what?

Porfiry

No. No. That's kind of the point, n'est-ce pas?

..so you dont even get a poisoned bile filled pvt message from a mod saying "Adios muchachos"?

So you log onto sciforums one day, as you do,...then..nothing..you cant post??

...is that what happens?:(

1)desi from the word Pardes, meaning "traditional" or of the motherland.
2) also used in Punjab as a colloquial term for home made booze.

...and who was associating it with you anyway?? I wasnt.

Ok ok, :

MY MY never...i never said you did.....I just don't like the word. Where i live the word Desi gets associated with those loser ass NRIs who think they are in gods land and are deemed uber cool just for being there or those other morons who try to adopt the country's culture at any cost and end up looking like even worse jackasses then those former losers.

english and french are official languages
the actual "speakage" of either breaks down into regions
now porf is from vancouver which is as anglo...oops...chinese as they come so i expected porf to gab in cantonese (jusssst kidddding!).

eyeballing the 2001 census for vancouver gives us.....

1,725,985 - english only
1,215 - french only
147,775 - both
92,505 - neither

so there!;)

*as for assuming linguistic skills on the basis of some overused and cliched phrases..... i wuz jes makin small talk!
even tho i do not know for certainty what porf said, logic dictates it must be something in the lines of...is it not?

How on earth do people tell so quickly and post "~~'s Sciforums funeral" threads???

Ghassan,
Dude Bolly is major crazy!! But for me it's lost the magic of the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's that was a magical era, truly great films, stars (Raj Kumar Amithab Bachan, etc etc.....)

I stopped watching in the mid 80's.

No offense to you dude but you have to see these guys. I don't care for any racial or ethnic boundaries but these guys even embarass me.

Oh shut up.......i am probably the worst Indian there is...i barely know shit about my cultutre but that doesn't make me any less of a person....i am proud of who i am but these guys that come her aren't ....they try to hide the fact when it is beyond apparent. I don't have any Indian friends but i will say it to anyone's face who i am and where i come from...it sickens me when these guys are ashamed of their past....why i ask them?

dude it's hard, specially ( i would imagine) being brought up in the states. Theres so much preasure to "be" amercan that these poor indian/american hybrids dont know whether they're coming or going.
It's saddder (for me) watching Muslims friggin necking booze (which most of them cant stand the taste of) just to get wasted, so they wont be picked on as being "Muslims"
then these are the fuckos that the nons point at and say:

I know all too well. I can't even count how many times i have been laughed at for being who i am....or how many times i have been called a terrorist but the difference with me is i didn't give a flying fuck about what they thought of me........also being fat didn't help with that either.

You have to see some of these people to know what I'm talking about bhudmaash. It's not a question of being more 'indian.' It's about being proud of your culture. I think sarge's already said this.

also, I'd like to know the factors involved when considering whether or not a person should be banned or not, ie: their past contributions to the board, but more importantly whether or not the person being considered for banning is a paying member or not??? does $3.99 give you a bit more leeway;)

Probably. The way Porf is falling into such mercenary depths, he will probably let you post spam all over the place if you give him $1000 dollar donation per month or some shit like that.

Money equals everything here. Never mind that some people might not have the money.

Yes, but that is on my forum on another server platform.

I have a "Ye Old Dreaded Gag Log" discussion thread, I think I called it, documenting any gag warnings, post edits, or anything like that. But I haven't gagged anybody at all. If they are gagged, they can still read the discussion threads, but their Reply link vanishes. Now if they are locked out such that they can't read either, I think I would send them an email through the Send Email link in their profile that still hides their registered email address.

I think it good courtesy to maintain a public list.

Yeah, what one poster said about the "forgot sciforums exists" scenario is quite plausible. People move on and get busy with other things.
