OK, I'm getting a Blue Screen of Death. My computer, sadly, doesn't have a older restore point either

It even crashed once while I was writing this.

Anyhow, I opened the dmp file with BlueScreenView and it gives me this information. Any idea on what it means? How do you normally go about fixing a corrupted driver?

Why is it that your computer, sadly, doesn't have a older restore point?
What were you doing on the computer when this began?
    ntoskrnl.exe is a network function.
hal may have to do with a recent hardware/software installation.
    I have windows 7.

The restore point was going into a partition that didn't have enough memory for it and I was messing around with the settings to try and only save a smaller amount of information and subsequently *poof* I must have deleted the older entries because when I go to restore point there's only one and it's last night

The only software that I can think of is I bough MassEffect2 to play over Xmas but Bioware wouldn't let me play it! So I updated my graphics driver (thinking this was the problem) through Nvidia. I still couldn't play because it thinks it's an illegal copy... which sucks as it isn't

Other than that I did download some critical Windows updates.

Open in safe mode, remove the last few things you added into your HD, run a virus scan then see what happens. You might have to just start all over again with a fresh install.

OMG, I don't want to do a fresh install!!!

    Well, I've run
    (1) BlueScreenView

    then I ran
    (2) DriverView

Then I took at look at my wireless driver (I tried updating from Win7, it said everything was up to date)

So, I then went to Intel and ran their "Automatically identify and find drivers"

It found a newer driver for the wireless so I let their software install it. I went back and checked and indeed the driver which was version 12.4.1.4 is now 13. something or other (up to date).

All thanks to this MS website:
Windows 7 x64 netw5v64.sys driver issue causes BSOD

A BIG thank you to Nirsoft for their Freeware - I'm not sure if it's fixed, but, without their software I wouldn't have been able to find any information!

I know your feeling, and I would guess you are still in trouble. One thing you can do that won't cost to much is get yourself a USB hard drive to give you more space and the make sure you copy all files you want to save to the USB drive and then if you don't need them on your primary hard drive get rid of them and give yourself more space for restore points.

If you do have a legitimate Windows 7 installed, you need to call Microsoft and get that resolved as it will bite you in the ass. Take my word for it.

Note: If you call MS on a cell phone. Make sure it's fully charged first.

    No BSoD anymore!

As for ME2, the problem is the software thinks it's an illegal copy. Why, I'm not quite sure. I've read the forums and it seems to be a common problem. It may have to do with Daemon software on my computer I use to emulate a disk being in the drive. What sucks is I actually bought it ($20) and it's not working. Bioware really need to pull their heads out on this one.

You could be right but I wouldn't count on it. many times after you make a change all will seem good for awhile and just as you start to feel safe again, you will be nailed hard. At least that was an experience I had with a Window XP system.

The initial Bluescreen included information about IRQ's (Interrupt Request), daemon's create artificial IRQ's that sometimes might attempt to go out of scope with that of the hardware.

As you've pointed out in the post there is also the fact that DRM detection systems will look to see if such "emulated" devices exist and potentially create problems when they do. Either try disabling it, or completely uninstalling it.

And once again, about all DRM is good for is fouling up some legitimate installations. I'm not going to bother to find out (I don't pirate games) but it's a pretty safe bet that cracked version of the game are freely available via bit torrent. Versions that don't hang up because they detect something that might be used to circumvent their DRM protections.

Most of the time games companies will eventually offer an online patch to work around the original installations DRM, however they don't usually offer that until a far way after the game has been released in an effort to make sure they squeeze every penny out of the legitimate gamer before undermining their own DRM. All you can usually do is just jump onto that Publicists forum for that particular game and add "Authentic game play error due to malformed DRM" to the list of people suffering DRM problems.

Er, no it isn't, .. it's the operating system Kernel, which mediates between hardware specifics, and system calls.

Well I've not had any BSoD since the download BUT I did have some weird sound and that I never heard before. It was like a whinny vibrating noise. I was listening to my headset so I didn't quite catch it AND my laptop sits on one of those dual fans you plug into a USB port - so it may have been a fan went out of balance for 10 seconds or so?

I don't think there's anything in there that could vibrate anyway... It didn't come from the side that has the BRplayer.... lets hope this PC isn't going to take a crap on me. It cost my company like $4K

and they let me have it as it was 3 years old and I said I wanted to do work from home with it (which I do, do). They're not going to fix it if it does go kaput
