Vivisimo, is a new search engine that I've been trying out. And get this: I think it's better then google.

It's a cluster search engine that files things into sub-categories, all depending on what you enter.

For example, I typed in "Sciforums CounslerCoffee". The sub-categories that came up in the search, are as follows:

sciforums counslercoffee (42)
Hide all ads, plus other perks (16)
Banshee sciforums.com (14)
Free Thoughts (6)
Moderator SciFi (4)
Wraith 5 (2)
Other Topics (1)

And that's it. Try it with "Neil Gaiman"

Neil Gaiman (126)
Comics (31)
Interview (17)
Dreaming (12)
Neil Gaiman's Sandman (12)
Amazon.com (8)
Science Fiction (4)
Endless Nights (4)
Book Reviews (5)
Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere (5)
Store, Official Neil Gaiman Online (4)

Completely new and seperate sub-catergories based on what you typed in. Quite impressive.

I do admit that Google is king.

Forgive me father, for I have sinned. It has been fourteen months since my last confession:

I said that there was something better then google, I am wrong. Please forgive me.

"Okay, search google 15 times. God Bless you my son."

I don't see how it's better than google. The cluster categorization is nice and all, but it's trivially easy to narrow your google search down to the appropriate topic by simply throwing in a few related words. For example if I search for 'Saturn' on vivisimo it will group my search results into pages about the planet Saturn, pages about Saturn car dealerships, pages about the Greek god Saturn, etc. All well and good, but it would simply be a matter of typing in 'planet Saturn' or 'Saturn car' with google to get the same results.

BUT, if you just typed in "Saturn Car", then you would get:

saturn car (131)
Parts (25)
Quotes (26)
Club (10)
ION (12)
New Saturn (16)
New And Pre-Owned (6)
Saturn SL2 (3)
Car Prices,Used (4)
Saturn Vehicle (3)
Saturn Car Buying (3)

Whereas with google, all you get is jumbled results...

...and it's that level of control (with the other search 'functions') which makes google so great.

I don't remember the last time I used google's categorized items... or anybody elses. They simply don't seem to be needed.

And I like things organized.

Leave me alone... It's a new search engine and I'm having fun with it. Bah humbug.

I don't like google.
I've found that if I search for something in google and then search the same thing at yahoo, yahoo returns more things, and they are often good things and I'm surprised and disappointed at google for hiding them away from me for so long.
Trust me I've only been using google forever and still use it but when i am serious about finding something I don't use it because it sucks.
And wtf is with these smilies, and this weird layout altogether... am I on drugs?

vivisimo is great in one thing.

For example, if I type in spuriousmonkey it first gives me the spuriousmonkey website! And that is how it is supposed to be. Give the most relevant thing first.

Google starts with my links page. And then some more crap.

yer rite I'll say.
But I haven't tried that vivisimo, so I can't say any bout it. One thing for sure, I still doubt that it will do anything better than google........ Not to mention that lately I only use search engines when forced to.

I've used a lot of search engines, and I find I use google for most things. However, when searching for information on a few specialized things (such as information or picture of an actress), I find myself using yahoo. But in general I find google to be the best.

Yahoo uses the Google engine, Dr. Lou Natic.
