    It's still better than apartheid.

spidergoat is right. Further, it's unreasonable to expect racism and inequality to vanish in a snap- It's a process spanning generations, because prejudices can't be changed like outergarments and governments. The fall of apartheid was only the first battle. In the USA, we're still overcoming the aftermath of slavery in fits and starts, and there are still immense opportunity gaps.

Do you really think that more people did not go without power and food under Apartheid?

There was no starvation in apartheid South Africa. But neither was there freedom and basic human rights for non whites.

Well, I think they missed the opportunity that most other nations enjoyed, to be able to develop in an age of cheap energy. They jumped right into the Long Emergency and we are soon to follow.

It's just the straw that broke the camel's back. There are converging problems, energy (fossil fuels), overpopulation, climate change, globalization, disease... I am optimistic, but it will get worse before it gets better. Our Way of Life simply isn't sustainable.

Which could be closed instantly by reparation payments.

No, I think that more equal physical mobility and education opportunities will make a more perfect union, and a much bigger difference than Bushevik "stimulus" handouts. Same in South Africa: Apartheid's gone, but upward mobility still hasn't arrived for many.

The problem with South Africa is now the reverse racism and the insane corruption. They are disbanding our version of the FBI. Its called the NPA (National Prosecuting Authority) aka the Scorpians as most of the ruling MEC is under investigation from some kinda fraud or another.

We have also run out of electricity as no new power stations have being built since the fall of Apartheid.

And a guy who has being charged for rape, is going to trial for an arms deal fraud, and who sings, "bring me my machine gun" is most likely to be our next president.

No offence spidergoat, but I dont think you have much info as to what is going on in my country at the moment, and there is now serious talk about civil war. Were basically waiting for either our judicial system to be compromised or opposition parties declared illegal.... and these ARE seriously on the books.

Its going pear shaped and theres only so many of us that we will allow to be killed before we fight back.

As a white liberal I now feel myself being drawn to the conservative side as all I see from the world is racist hypocrisy. IE, its only racism when white people do it, but now with the ANC and black people doing it, and Mugabe getting away with killing 200 000 of his own people... I feel the world that sanctioned Apartheid South Africa are a bunch of two faced pathetic cowards.

Its easy to sanction white people, but when things are being done by black people... they still blame the white people. [picture of a screw] this.. Im ready to fight... as we dont really have much to lose anymore.

    LOL.

Up to a million dollars in cash per black American would be a huge stimulus. It would transform the fortunes of black Americans overnight.

To try and argue against that is absurd. In America, the dollar is everything.

    W1z4rd,

The simple minded always tow the media line like cattle. Apartheid simply gave America an opportunity to begin liquidating South Africa as a major economic competitor and reeling in the business slack.

But hey, apartheid was evil, just like Saddam and his W.M.D.

Hence the answer to what the problem is, no money. Where is it? Why isn't the economics of this country in better shape? Corruption? Embezzelment? Or just lack of qualified people running the government?

Yes, you do: You have your humanity, your country, and your life to lose. The real fight is not unique to South Africa, and it's between rage and hope. You are either on the side of hope or rage when you make your choices.

From what I've read of Pilger, Apparently, The privatisation of so many companies resulted in poverty for many of the people.

If they have a problem with whites running there countries, how about importing japanese nationals or blacks educated & born in the uk to be presedint in the countries, at leat then we might see a africa rebuilding & free of corruption, i have yet to see one black leader in africa who has been a sucess, corruption is imbedded in there entire lives, you have to bribe everyone, any soldier who is short of money puts up a roadblock wherever he wants, then stops traders exporting there produce unless the pay a toll fee to him & his merry men, i saw that on a fair trade inititive the eu has with africa, & the police have to be payed, its all one big fucking rip off, the law, there is no law & until there is africa will always be begging, roll in a jap president pay him top dollar, & a free hand, & put a bounty on corrupt officals.

With all the racist confusion still obscuring Africa's economic, educational, and corruption problems, returning to more racist policy is not the answer.
